2011 Muscle Milk/JJHuddle Ohio HS Football Power Polls

For the second straight week the Muscle Milk and JJHuddle Division III Power Poll stays the same (team-wise), although some spots have shifted...Here's how things look heading into the final week.


The Power Polls...are back. JJHuddle's immensely popular state football rankings continue today with the release of the latest Division III poll. Also this year, JJHuddle is proud to announce that Muscle Milk has become a co-sponsor of the rankings.

New polls will be unveiled on site every Tuesday-Wednesday during the season.

2011 Muscle Milk & JJHuddle Division III Power Poll: Week 10

1. Steubenville (9-0, R11)
Head coach Reno Saccoccia won his 300th career game and Big Red made a big statement with an impressive 24-7 victory over Massillon Washington. RB JoJo Pierro scored two fourth quarter TDs and Steubenville’s defense was dominant. Massillon managed just 137 yards of offense, including 19 on the ground. This week Big Red hosts Tonawanda (NY) Cardinal O’Hara (1-7).

2. Mentor Lake Catholic (8-1, R9)
QB Mark Baniewicz tossed two TDs as the Cougars beat Akron Hoban 28-6. This week MLC faces a huge road test at undefeated Avon (9-0).

3. Kettering Alter (9-0, R12)
In a game that featured six combined passing yards, the Knights rushed for 374 yards and beat Roger Bacon 35-7. Senior RB Joe Penno led the way by rushing for 159 yards and three TDs on 23 carries. This week Alter closes the regular season against archrival Chaminade Julienne (7-2) at Trotwood-Madison HS.

4. Youngstown Mooney (5-3, R11)
The Cardinals stubbed their toe in a 25-21 loss to archrival Youngstown Ursuline. Mooney couldn’t stop Ursuline’s Jesse Curry (208 yards rushing) and saw its last ditch effort end on downs. The Cardinals finish the regular season this week at Uniontown Lake (2-7).

5. Akron SVSM (8-1, R9)
RB Matt Matuska ran for two TDs as the Irish edged Akron Buchtel 17-14. This week SVSM is at Youngstown Ursuline (3-6).

6. Ravenna (8-1, R9)
The Ravens fell behind 14-7 and then scored 49 unanswered points in a 56-14 win over Streetsboro. Senior RB D.J. Jones led an offense that ran for 353 yards by rushing for 208 and three TDs.  This week Ravenna hosts Kent Roosevelt (8-1) with the Portage Trail Conference title hanging in the balance.

7. Jonathan Alder (9-0, R12)
The Pioneers built a 48-0 halftime lead and beat Marion Harding 51-7. RB Derritt Potts led Alder by rushing for 222 yards and three TDs on 11 carries. Harding’s only score came on a kickoff return. Up next for Alder is the long awaited visit from Columbus Watterson (3-6).

8. Springfield Shawnee (9-0, R12)
Senior QB Brad Jarzab threw for two TDs and ran for two more as the Braves scored 35 first quarter points en route to a 70-21 win over Stebbins. Shawnee had 535 yards of offense. This week the Braves visit undefeated Tippecanoe (9-0) in what boils down to a a Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Division championship game.

9. Chagrin Falls (9-0, R9)
Bradley Munday ran for 114 yards as the Tigers beat Pepper Pike Orange 27-6. This week Chagrin Falls hosts Perry (4-5).

10. Dover (8-1, R11)
QB Derik Swinderman hooked up with WR Mason Mamarella for three first quarter TD passes and the Tornadoes rolled to their 33rd straight East Central Ohio League victory with a 55-14 win over Marietta. Dover closes the regular season at home against New Philadelphia (7-2).
