Week 9 Nominees

*Kyle Nutter, Genoa
Senior RB/DB had a HUGE game on both sides of the ball as the Comets clinched a share of the Northern Buckeye Conference with a 57-7 win over Nutter ran for 262 yards and four TDs on 35 carries. Defensively he recovered three fumbles and had an interception.

*Jon Zimmerly, Norwayne
Senior RB broke his dad’s single-game rushing record by exploding for 324 yards and four TDs on 34 carries in a 59-13 win over Hillsdale. Zimmerly’s father Doug (now the Norwayne principal) held the old school single-game rushing record with 292 yards in 1983.

*Ross Hickenbottom, West Liberty-Salem
WR/DB returned three kicks for TDs in a 65-7 win over Cedarville. Hickenbottom had punt returns of 73 and 46 yards for TDs and also returned a kickoff 80-yards for a TD.  He also had three catches for 88 yards and recovered a fumble.

*Donovan Wilson, Dublin Jerome
Senior RB ran for 424 of his team’s 425 rushing yards in a 21-20 OT loss to Westerville South. Wilson carried the ball 59 times and scored all three of the Celtics TDs.

*Dominick Orsini, Akron Archbishop Hoban
Senior QB broke the school record for single-season passing yards and single-game passing yards by completing 20-of-34 passes for 369 yards and two TDs in a 49-21 win over Benedictine. Orsini now has 2,120 yards in nine games. He also ran for 167 yards and two TDs on 26 carries.

*Jacob Basso, Liberty Union
RB ran for 311 yards and four TDs on 22 carries as the Lions beat West Jefferson 47-12. Basso scored on runs of 71, 68, 52 and 37 yards.

*Nathan Strock, Tri-Valley
Senior QB threw for 192 yards and three TDs and ran for 159 yards and two TDs in a 63-13 win over Sheridan.

*Layne Perone, West Holmes
Junior RB set the school’s single-season points (148) record and tied the single-season TD (23) mark in a 43-0 win over Wooster. Perone ran for 256 yards and two TDs on 21 carries and added two 2-point conversion runs.

*Vance Settlemire, Findlay
Senior RB tied or set three school records in a 62-34 win over Toledo St. John’s. Vance set the Trojans’ single-game (376) and single-season (1,682) rushing records and tied the school record for rushing TDs in a game (six). It’s the third time this season Vance has scored six TDs in a game. Vance, who carried the ball 25 times against TSJ, also had 28 yards receving to give him 404 total yards. The old Findlay single-season rushing record of 1,584 was set by Shaun Ball in 1997.

*Alfred Ramsby, Colerain
Senior QB accounted for 388 total yards and four TDs in a 57-44 win over Lakota West. Ramsby ran for 230 yards and four TDs and threw for 158 yards and another score.

Week 9 Nominees

*Beavercreek
The Beavers beat traditional power Centerville for just the second time since 1970 with a 27-21 decision. Junior Arius Moore scored the game-winning TD on a 99-yard run, which tied the school record held by current girls basketball coach Ed Zink. Zink, who set the record in 1969, is the winningest coach in Ohio HS girls basketball history.

*Fenwick
The Falcons beat Alter for the first time ever with a 35-34 win. Fenwick stuffed an Alter 2-point conversion to secure the victory. With a win over Carroll, the Falcons will earn a share of their first ever GCL Divisional title.

*Franklin
The Wildcats won their second straight Southwestern Buckeye League Southwest Division title with a 41-13 win over Brookville. It’s the first time since 1987-89 that Franklin has won back-to-back football league titles.

*Pickerington Central
The Tigers won the 100th game in program history (since the district split in 2003) with a 44-7 win over Groveport-Madison. Pick Central reached the milestone in 120 games. The victory was also head coach Jay Sharrett’s 100th career victory (Sharrett took over in 2003). Since 2003, the Tigers own eight playoff berths, seven OCC tiles, three regional titles and two state finals appearances.

*Glouster Trimble
The Tomcats haven’t been scored on since Week 3. Trimble’s latest 21-0 win over Racine Southern was its sixth straight shutout win. The Tomcats have allowed 45 points all season.

*Hartley
The Hawks had two 200-yard rushers in a 41-6 win over Coshocton. Senior RB Ja’Wuan Woodley ran for 212 yards and three TDs on 26 carries, while senior RB Marcellus Calhoun had 211 yards and three TDs on 29 carries.  Hartley had 540 yards of offense, including 479 rushing.

*Van Wert
The Cougars snapped an 18-game losing streak with a 26-6 win over St. Marys.

*Urichsville Claymont
The Mustangs scored a school record 67 points and had over 400 yards of offense in a 67-14 win over Meadowbrook. Claymont scored on offense, defense, and special teams and had 26 points in the first 2:40 of the game. Seven different players scored TDs for the Mustangs who forced six turnovers.

*Napoleon
The Wildcats (8-0-1) continue to impress and moved one step closer to the school’s first undefeated season since 1976 with a 48-7 win over Sylvania Northview. The victory wrapped a Northern Lakes League title as well. It’s been a season to remember for Napoleon, which made the playoffs last year at 5-5 and loss in the first round. In Week 1, RB Charlie Harris set the school single-game rushing record with 302 yards in a win over Defiance. Senior WR Jordan Lauf has also set a school single-season record with 12 receiving TDs. Lauf played soccer the last two years.

*St. Edward
The Eagles remained unbeaten by rallying from a 42-21 third quarter deficit en route to a 49-42 win over host Moeller. St. Ed was led by senior RB Dwayne Aaron who ran for 250 yards and four TDs on 36 carries. Senior QB Ryan Fallon added three TDs and 259 yards on 16-of-30 passing. The Eagles had 548 yards of offense. In addition to the win over Moeller, St. Ed has also beaten GCL South powers St. Xavier and Elder this season.
