While Kettering Alter and Centerville were staging their much-publicized and long-awaited game in Southwestern Ohio this past weekend, another long awaited rivalry game took place on the North Shore.
It took 61 years, but Elyria Catholic and Elyria finally met on the football field. And in front of a standing room only crowd at Elyria’s Ely Stadium, it was EC that came away with a 56-35 win.
The player of the game was EC senior QB Danny Reaser, who also earned this week’s nod as the JJHuddle Offensive Player of the Week for his remarkable performance. Reaser set a Lorain County record for passing yards in a game (508) and tied one for TD passes (six). He completed 19-of-35 passes (26.7 yards per completion).
One of Reaser’s favorite targets was Zach Rogers who had 10 catches for 241 yards and two TDs.
Not to be totally over-shadowed, Elyria QB Dustin Stolarski set a school record of his own for passing yards in a game with 290.
The teams combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense.
