Today's entry is the fastest girls swimmer in Ohio history...
24. Margo Geer, Fairbanks, Swimming, 2006-2010: Geer is the fastest women in Ohio history and nearly the fastest ever in the country. At last year’s district meet, Geer conquered the water with times of 22.40 in the 50 free and 48.99 in the 100 free. Both times are state records (regardless of division) and the fifth fastest times ever in U.S. history by a high school swimmer. Her state meet record times of 22.58 and 49.39 in the events turned in at last year’s state championship also make the Top 10 ever in the U.S. at seventh and 10th on their respective lists. Those marks also broke pool records that had stood for 32 and 25 years, respectively. Heading into the state finals this month, Geer will be looking to become the first swimmer in history – regardless of gender – to win two events at the state meet four times. She currently has three titles each in the 50 free and 100 free. Geer, who is headed to Arizona, is also one of the nation’s top swimmers in the 200 free and 100 backstroke.
