Today we continue the countdown of JJHuddle's “Top 50 Ohio High School Athletes of the Decade” for 1999-2009. Every Monday through Friday from now until March 26, a new athlete will be released.

Today's entry is one of Ohio's greatest runners ever. He still holds the 800 record.

46. Marc Sylvester, Cleveland St. Ignatius, Track, 1997-2001: Set – and still owns – the Ohio record in the 800 with a 1:48.93 in 2001 in Dayton. That mark is also a state meet record and ranks eighth in U.S. history. The 1:49.07 Sylvester ran in 2001 as well ranks No. 9 all-time. Sylvester also won the national indoor and outdoor titles in the 800 in 2001. The state 800 champ as a sophomore as well, Sylvester also led Ignatius to state titles in the 3,200 relay as a senior and sophomore. He was the SEC Freshman of the Year at Tennessee in 2002.
