SEASON OULOOK
Avon is looking to build on a foundation laid down by playoff tested head coach Mike Elder in his second season on the sidelines for the Eagles.
The Eagles return 13 total starters (seven offense, six defense), including O’Rourke and Harrell. O’Rourke passed for 1,900 yards and 13 touchdowns last year completing 63 percent of his attempts. He holds nearly every school passing record and is aiming for the season and career touchdown record.
Harrell rushed for over 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns.
"The majority of the experience will come from the skilled positions," said Elder.
Wearsch had 50 tackles and a sack as a sophomore.
"We set our sights high for both a (West Shore Conference) championship crown and an invite to the 2008 OHSAA Football playoffs," Elder said.
The Eagles open the season on Aug. 21 with Aurora as the Fox Sports Net Ohio Game of the Week.
Week 5, Avon will host defending league champion Rocky River and welcome rival Bay Village Bay in the regular season finale.
