This weekend was one Cleveland St. Ignatius would like to forget. Ranked No. 1 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American, Ignatius (22-1-0) lost to Gahanna Lincoln 1-0 in a shootout for the Division I state title. Gahanna (22-0-1), ranked No. 9 in the country, got a goal from junior William Trap on teh tenth and final penalty kick giving the Lions a 4-3 edge and the state title. Ignatius also lost in the Division I football regional semifinals to Cleveland Glenville 30-13 Saturday. In Division II state socceer action, Columbus St. Francis DeSales topped Bay Village Bay 1-0 in the championship game and Worthington Christian defeated Cuyhaoga Valley Christian Academy 2-1 for the Divsions III state title.
