Coshocton’s Marcus Johnston might be the best running back that you have never heard of or read about.
The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound senior back has been putting up numbers for quite some time now, and this year was a record-breaking season. Johnston became the all-time single-season rushing leader in Redskins’ history. Johnston passed former Coshocton great Ricky Ciccone.
Johnston, after a 16 carry and 213-yard performance in last week’s opening round 55-35 playoff win over West Muskingum, has now amassed 1,922 yards for the year on just 180 carries (10.7 ypc.). He has 27 TDs.
The (9-2) Redskins will meet unbeaten Amanda-Clearcreek this Saturday at Zanesville’s Sulsberger Memorial Stadium in a regional semifinal showdown.
The Skins will have its hands full with an Aces’ defense that has given up just 46 points the entire season including five shutouts.
Coshocton’s vaunted wing-T offense is averaging 40.9 points per game including seven times scoring over 40 points, five occasions over 50, and once eclipsing 60. The ‘Skins ran for 394 yards in last week’s road playoff victory.
