1. Mentor Lake Catholic (4-0)
The Cougars vault all the way from No. 6 to No. 1 thanks in part to another impressive win – this one a 27-22 victory over Youngstown Mooney. MLC has also beaten Youngstown Ursuline, Ravenna and Strongsville. Against Mooney, junior RB John Stepec ran for three TDs (all 1-yard). Up next is another test in visiting Walsh Jesuit (2-1).

2. Steubenville (4-0)
Big Red, led by senior RB JoJo Pierro (141 yards and three TDs on 16 carries), racked up 526 yards of offense en route to a 40-6 win over Brooke (WV). Defensively, Steubenville allowed 166 yards and forced nine punts. This week Big Red travels to Youngstown Ursuline (1-3).

3. Kettering Alter (4-0)
The Knights rushed for 424 yards and allowed just 183 total yards in a 35-6 win over Purcell Marian. Junior QB Malik Zaire carried th4e ball 10 times for 95 yards and two TDs, while senior RB Joe Pennon ran for 146 yards and a TD on 15 carries. This week Alter travels to Hamilton Badin (3-1).

4. Akron SVSM (4-0)
Senior QB Kevin Besser threw for 218 yards and four TDs and ran for two more TDs as the Irish beat Euclid 56-14. SVSM is at Akron Hoban (0-4) this week.

5. Youngstown Mooney (2-2)
The Cardinals dropped their second straight, losing 27-22 to mentor Lake Catholic. This week Mooney faces another stiff test as Red Lion (Del.) Christian Academy (2-1) comes to Youngstown.

6. Cleveland Benedictine (4-0)
The Bengals rode the legs of Brian Lacy (three rushing TDs) to a convincing 49-21 win over Holy Name. Benedictine hosts Cleveland Central Catholic (3-1) this week.

7. Ravenna (3-1)
Senior RB D.J. Jones ran for 283 yards and five TDs as the Ravens beat Mantua Crestwood 56-3. As a team Ravenna had 465 total yards. This week the Ravens host Coventry (3-1).

8. Marlington (3-1)
The Dukes had their 14-game regular season win streak snapped and suffered a tough loss at Louisville, falling 35-28 in the final minute. This week Marlington looks to rebound at home against Salem (3-1).

9. Springfield Shawnee (4-0)
The Braves beat Springfield Northwestern 56-0. Shawnee had 491 yards of offense and held Northwestern to 84 (and three first downs). Next up is a visit from Greenon (1-3).

10. Columbus Watterson (2-2)
The Eagles re-enter the Power Poll after beating Winton Woods 31-28 on Brennan Clegg’s 26-yard field goal with 1.1 seconds left. Senior RB Anthony Melaragno led the way for Watterson by rushing for 129 yards and two TDs on 15 carries. He also recovered a fumble. This week a huge road test awaits at Cincinnati LaSalle (4-0).
