Two new teams enter the Muscle Milk and JJHuddle Division III Power Poll. See who they are and who dropped out...Here's how the Week 4 rankings look.


The Power Polls...are back. JJHuddle's immensely popular state football rankings continue today with the release of the latest Division III poll. Also this year, JJHuddle is proud to announce that Muscle Milk has become a co-sponsor of the rankings.

New polls will be unveiled on site every Tuesday-Wednesday during the season.

2011 Muscle Milk & JJHuddle Division III Power Poll: Week 4

1. Marlington (3-0)
Led by QB Jesse Carpenter who threw for three TDs and ran for another, the Dukes beat host and then-No. 9 Poland Seminary 41-23. On Saturday Marlington junior RB/DB Dymonte Thomas committed to Michigan. This week the Dukes visit Louisville (1-2).

2. Steubenville (3-0)
Big Red smashed visiting Canadian club Bishop Ryan Catholic 53-0. Steubenville racked up 407 yards of offense and held Bishop Ryan to just 105 (half of which came in the fourth quarter). QB Marcus Prather completed 15-of-21 passes for 192 yards and a TD and ran for another score. This week Steubenville plays its first road game of the season and one of just two on its schedule – at Brooke (WV).

3. Kettering Alter (3-0)
The Knights intercepted five passes and junior QB Malik Zaire ran for two TDs as Alter posted a 21-12 win at Napoleon. This week Alter begins GCL play with a game against Purcell Marian (2-1) at Springboro.

4. Akron SVSM (3-0)
Led by senior QB Kevin Besser (17-of-25, 227 yards, four TDs), the Irish beat St. John’s College (DC) 39-14. SVSM also forced five TOs. This week the Irish host Euclid (0-3).

5. Youngstown Mooney (3-0)
The Cardinals couldn’t slay Goliath, falling 34-17 to Lakewood St. Edward. The Cardinals did hold the Eagles to just 33 first half yards, but surrendered 233 in the second half. This week Mooney hosts No. 6 Mentor Lake Catholic (3-0).

6. Mentor Lake Catholic (3-0)
The Cougars held Ursuline to 186 yards rushing in a 9-0 win. MLC scored on a first quarter safety and second quarter TD run by Evan Gormley. This week a huge test looms with a trip to No. 5 Youngstown Mooney (3-0).

7. Cleveland Benedictine (3-0)
The Bengals enter the Power Poll after impressive wins over Boardman, Akron Hoban and now Bedford. In the teams first game since 1937 – both Bedford and Benedictine play their home games at Bedford’s Bearcat Stadium – the Bengals won 27-19 thanks in part to RB Bryan Lacey who had 173 yards and three TDs on 21 carries. This week Benedictine travels to Parma Heights Holy Name (1-2).

8. Ravenna (2-1)
The Ravens scored 28 third quarter points en route to a 31-6 win over visiting Louisville. QB Brandon Holt ran for three TDs and 133 yards, while RB D.J. Jones ran for 152 yards and a TD. This week Ravenna is at Mantua Crestwood (0-3).

9. Springfield Shawnee (3-0)
The Braves survived six turnovers and beat Urbana 23-17 in OT. Senior QB Brad Jarzab ran for 123 yards and a TD and threw for 121 yards. This week Shawnee is at Springfield Northwestern (0-3).

10. Poland Seminary (1-2)
The Bulldogs trailed 21-7 at halftime and turned the ball over too many times in a 41-23 loss to No. 1 Marlington. Poland hosts Cortland Lakeview (1-2) this weekend.

DROPPED OUT:  No. 6 Columbus DeSales (lost to New Albany 27-24), No. 10 Columbus Watterson (lost 26-24 to Walsh Jesuit)
