CENTRAL OHIO
*Gahanna Lincoln fell from the ranks of the unbeaten last night dropping a 40-38 decision to undefeated Reynoldsburg. The Golden Lions were without junior Javon Bess, who will also be for Friday’s game with Lancaster. Nary a player entered double figures for Reynoldsburg, yet, the Raiders still managed to survive.
*Olentangy Liberty and Dublin Coffman- a pair of Division I clubs- are floating under the radar as each remained unbeaten after wins over Marysville and Thomas Worthington.
*Keep an eye on West Jefferson as the Roughriders are flying high. WJ ripped Fisher Catholic, 72-46, moving to (5-0).
*Amanda-Clearcreek dropped its first decision of the year falling to Division I Canal Winchester.
*Delaware Buckeye Valley remained unbeaten with a win over Northmor. Jordan Tomlinson led the way with 22 points and Jack Kelly added 19.
EASTERN OHIO
*New Philadelphia knocked off previously unbeaten Zanesville, 67-65 in overtime, stopping a minor slide. The Quakers got 23 points and 12 rebounds from junior Ethan Boose and 21 and 11 from classmate Marco Colombo. Jake Phillis paced the Blue Devils with 27.
*Garaway has quietly put together a nice start to its season and last night was a little icing on the cake. The Pirates defeated previously unbeaten and rival Berlin Hiland, 59-49, improving to (5-1) on the year. Senior Duane Troyer led the way with 23 points.
*Claymont improved to (4-2) last night, and Division II should be aware of the Mustangs. Claymont’s two setbacks came at the hands of Zanesville by two points and unbeaten Carrollton by seven.
*Cambridge is another squad off to a good start. The Bobcats moved to (4-1) last night thanks to 23 points from senior Kyle Ritz.
NORTHEAST OHIO
*There may not be a Division III team in the state with a tougher schedule to open the season then Youngstown Ursuline. The Irish dropped to (0-6) last night after a loss to Sharon (PA). Ursuline’s other losses came to Division I’s Warren Harding, Massillon Perry, Massillon Washington, and Bedford along with unbeaten Division III LaBrae.
*Brookfield improved to (4-0) behind 27 points from senior Jeremy Quinlan.
*It’s time to take notice; Youngstown Cardinal Mooney has a good basketball team. The Cardinals, always known as a football power, may have the right ingredients for a solid basketball campaign. Mooney is (3-0) after throttling Steubenville.
*Cleveland East Tech received 44 points from junior Kyauta Taylor in a triumph of Cleveland John Marshall. East Tech is now (5-1).
*North Canton Hoover also improved to (4-1) thanks to Harrison Blackledge and his 30 points. Blackledge, as many know, is the son of ESPN analyst, Todd Blackledge.
*Zavier Powers continued to score the basketball for Mentor Lake Catholic. The junioe poured in 27 points in a win over Perry.
*Ryan Bush of Salem had another 30-plus point night as he scored 38 points to help the Quaker remain unbeaten.
NORTHWEST OHIO
*Findlay upset Toledo St. John’s, 61-59, despite 28 points from senior Austin Gardner. The Titans were playing without Marc Loving (flu) and Chris Stearns (foot injury).
*Nigel Hayes scored 27 points including 14 from the charity stripe in Whitmer’s win over Toledo St. Francis.
*Sophomore Austin Adams dropped in 36 points as Cardinal Stritch defeated Lakota.
*Mark Donnal- the Michigan commit- scored 29 points and grabbed 12 boards in a victory over Sylvania Southview to help Anthony Wayne stay undefeated.
*Vitto Brown recorded 26 points and 17 rebounds, but Bowling Green was upset by Sylvania Northview, 56-55.
*Collin Bzovi netted 26 points to help Wauseon past Swanton on Thursday night.
SOUTHEAST OHIO
*Beaver Eastern’s Chad Lands scored 37 points in a victory over Portsmouth Clay.
*Sophomore Beau Justice and senior Trent Arey continue to tortcher their opponents. Justice totaled 31 points and Arey added 25 in a win over Lynchburg Clay.
*Portsmouth freshman Ky’re Allison enjoyed another solid night netting 19 points in a triumph of South Point.
SOUTHWEST OHIO
*Tecumseh and Fairfield are a pair of Southwest Ohio Division I teams that remained unbeaten on Tuesday evening. Neither team is getting much publicity at this point despite Fairfield making the state tournament a year ago.
*Luke Kennard scored 25 points as Franklin stayed undefeated with a win over Brookville.
*Germantown Valley View’s Zack Denny erupted for 41 points, but his squad took another loss.
*The defending Division III State champions, Cincinnati Summit Country Day, have quietly gone about a (6-0) start. The Silver Knights stormed past Division I Cincinnati Woodward, 73-36, behind junior Antonio Woods (23 points), senior Kevin Johnson (17 points), and sophomore MaCio Teague (14 points).
*Middletown Bishop Fenwick, a Division III outfit, took down Division I Cincinnati LaSalle to keep its perfect record alive.
