Marlington offensive guard Zach Higgins will take another trip to Michigan State today, and the Spartans are among the standout's favorites. But are they at the top?

“I want to see everything before making my final decision,” Higgins told Spartan Tailgate. “I want to make sure everything is good before I go ahead and decide if I’m going there.”

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound offensive lineman holds additional offers from West Virginia, Cincinnati and a host of MAC schools.

Higgins visited Ohio State last weekend, but once again left without an offer. Higgins will visit Columbus again Saturday to see where he stands with an Ohio State offer.

“I know they’re taking two more linemen but they can only take one more guard,” Higgins said. “So I really don’t know. Everything is kinda foggy but I’ll find out Saturday.”

Huggins’ top two schools are currently Ohio State and MSU. Higgins said he will make a decision in the upcoming weeks, and is waiting to see if the Buckeyes come through with an offer.

“It’s going to come down to Ohio State offering me or not,” Higgins said. “I love Michigan State, but being an Ohio kid it’s always been a dream of mine to play (at OSU). I don’t want to let this Michigan State offer go away because they can only take one guard. I don’t want to miss out on an opportunity of a lifetime to wait on a dream.”

Higgins said one of the reasons he loves MSU is because he wants to play in the Big Ten. The fact that they were co-conference champions doesn’t hurt either.

“They’re a Big Ten school,” Higgins said. “Like they say, big life, big stage, Big Ten. They were co-Big Ten champs last year, that is pretty sweet.”

MSU also offered Higgins’ teammate, sophomore running back Dymonte Thomas two weeks ago.

Spartan Tailgate will be in touch with Higgins Thursday to get the details on his trip to East Lansing.
