Glenville's Anderson to announce college decision this weekend

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. – Cleveland Glenville defensive back Latwan Anderson, who has made official visits to Ohio State, West Virginia and Michigan State, says he likely will make a commitment to one of those three this weekend.  But even if he does, that won’t be the end of the recruiting process for Anderson.

Anderson is in San Antonio this week preparing to play in the Army All-American Bowl.  He anticipates announcing a commitment during the game.

“I’m pretty sure I will,” Anderson said.

But the fans of the “winning” school will not be able to feel completely at ease.  Anderson’s commitment will be a “soft verbal.”

“I’m actually going to take an official to Miami and probably North Carolina,” Anderson said.

Anderson is slated to visit the Hurricanes the weekend of Jan. 15, and will likely visit North Carolina the following weekend.

Shortly before Christmas Anderson said West Virginia was No. 1 on his list with Miami No. 2 and Ohio State No. 3.  However, what Anderson said on Monday from Texas will sound better to Buckeye fans.

“I can’t really say that, it’s too close,” Anderson said.  “Right now there is no one, two or three.”

The Buckeyes’ performance in the Rose Bowl certainly should not hurt their cause in landing the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Ohio.

“I was very impressed,” Anderson said.  “I was one of the few people who didn’t think they were going to win even though I wanted them to win.  I just didn’t think we were at that point in Ohio.”

Once Anderson is finished with the Army All-American game he can look forward to an in-home visit from Buckeye boss Jim Tressel.

“I’m pretty sure it’s the week I come home from here,” Anderson said.

The 5-foot-11 and 185-pound Anderson had a great senior season as Glenville finished with a 13-2 record, losing their first game of the season and their final game, the Division I state championship game against Hilliard Davidson.

In the second round of the playoffs Anderson had a spectacular game intercepting four passes and returning one 103-yards for a touchdown as the Tarblooders defeated previously undefeated Cleveland St. Ignatius 30-13.
