A good man who will be missed. Will they stay in house for the next coach or look outside the program?

In house they should stay. They have a great staff and it could get even better if they stay in house.

Coach Dom is the best guy for the job.
A friend of mine who use to coach at warren said he has been a long time offensive coordinator and Assistant Head Coach. I think most current staff would stay from what he said.

Congrats to Coach Angle on his retirement. Coach Angle has done great things for the football players of Howland. Best wishes in the future. As far as the next coach, this job should have some pretty solid candidates apply.

What a great run for Coach Angle, will be strange not to see him on the sidelines this season. I'm with everyone else, Coach Menendez absolutely deserves to get the job at Howland

Great job all those yrs from Lakeview,PA to Kennedy Christian,PA, to Ursuline your alma mater who screwed you over in the end, to Keystone,PA, and finally Howland. You reserected more teams from losers to winners than JC rose from the dead. Yet there were alway those idiots who cried for your head on a stick because they knew better , but of course they never played, coached , or got off their couches because they were too fat too.
You changed so many kids lifes you will never be able to realize just how many because you cared for them not only as atheletes but as your sons. You treated every player as if he were your son and worked hard to get them into a good school to get an education and a chance to continue to play whether it be at Mercyhurst or Notre Dame or Harvard, it didn't matter.
Dang, we're going to miss you on that sideline yelling at those ref's and sticking up for your players. JJ Huddle won't have you to kick around either when you run the ball 45x a game and only pas 15x and still win 8, 9 or 10 games a yr when some of those bloggers want you to throw it 50x a game when they don't even know his personel. All I know is you're a winner every place you have been too and the players and partents all love you at every place you've been at too. Like 90% of the coaches you didn't win a state title, so what. You're still a WINNER.
ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU DESERVE IT!

I just had to defend my post to a private message because someone said , "well he never won a state championship". Here's what I wrote
"How many National titles did Bo Schembeckler win at Michigan? Or State titles did win Tom Carey at UHS or Bob Matey at chaney or Red Angleo and the list can go on forever and ever. Lighning strikes every so often. How many super bowl rings does Dan Marino have? Is he a bum for a QB? or Tony Gonzales at TE?
Same idea, to be at the right place at the right time against the right team and get the right calls from the officals, etc, etc.
You don't judge a coach on State championships, but how about League Championships? or the fact that 97% of the kids he got scholarships for in colleges from Div 1 to the small schools GRADUATED! And so many of them come back to games and keep in contact with him.
Hell, if those facts don't convince you he was a good coach, ...."
I did add something you could say in a private message that you can't say in a public one.
Dick Angle gave over 38 yrs of his life to helping kids and his only flaw was he didn't win a state championship. Yippee. He sure did have one heck of a good happy prosperous football coaching career that he can look back on, while that loser probaly nver even play or coached because he wasn't willing to put in all the time it takes to really help kids to be winners
Fine Job Coach Dick Angle
Enjoy your Retirement

There was good, there was bad, but I'll never take back the days I played for Howland for anything in the world.
Thanks Coach, not just from me, but from my entire family.

IMO,
After he was there for about 10 yrs, his principal Wassinovich fired him saying there were no classes for him even though some nuns were ready to switch their schedules around so he could stay. The principal said no! Mr Lyden, of Lyden Oil hired Dick and he still coached FB and after that yr the principal was kick into the central offices and a new principal was named and Angle got his job back. Flash ahead 8 yrs and Mr.Wassinovich is now Supt of Parochial Schools and Coach Angle's allies like Lyden have passed away, so...he is fired again for really no good reason.
Remember UHS under Angle sold out YSU stdadium well before YSU ever did and it was Angle who came up with the idea of using it to save $ and to show off UHS Football. Plus he did resurrect the program having to throw off the capt of the team in his firast yr there, also the week of the Mooney game for breaking team rules. He set proper rules and tone that really weren't hard to follow if you wanted to be a winner and the rest of the kids knew it and followed them.
So that's how I feel UHS screwed him over. I stopped my donation to them as did a lot of players who played for him .
Proved to be a blessing because he ended up at Howland where hed turned around another program, coached an HS All Ameriican named Doug Datish and turned a program that was known for being soft into a statewide program known for tough play and he got more kids into some great schools including the 3 Smith Brothers into Michigan State, Wisconsin and now Michigan.Plus many others into a lot of other schools
They Appreciated him at Howland and Wanted him there and know they had a top flight Coach in Dick Angle. Plus they know they will miss him. He worked hard for his players and the school because that just the kindof Coach he is. Sorry to say not many more like him around.

Four title since the coaching change. Ursuline obviously made the right move judging by the four trophies that are showcased on the Wick Avenue trophy case.

Funny how uneducated people spout about trophies. The playoff format that Angle dealt with at Ursuline was much more difficult than it is now. A year or two after he left, Ursuline fell to Division IV and then won three trophies when they fell to Division V. Had he competed in those divisions, I am willing to bet that there would be the same amount of trophies in the case, if not more.

Thank you thereddragon for that tidbit of very informative information which I agree wholeheartedly with you. Much tougher competion when Angle was their against WGH, Boardman, Fitch, Moeller, to name a few. Ursuline played them all and still won.
