Pickerington North- 24 ; Pickerington Central- 0 (Final) -
10-27-2012, 03:24 PM
North rolled in the first matchup and looked like they would coast to a week 13 date against either Coffman or Darby. Consecutive week dismantlings of Pick Central, Reynoldsburg, Groveport, and Gahanna appeared to show that Pick North was the class of Central Ohio. A 13-10 upset at the hands of the 'Hounds of Grove City served as a wake up call and reminded us all that the old adage of "...any given Friday" is as true as ever. With gut check wins over Reynoldsburg and Gahanna, Pick Central has squeaked into the playoffs and even managed to snag a share of the OCC Ohio title from rival Pick North. Will Central come out with a more balanced game plan this time around? Is North still the best team in the area but just needed a wake up call? Who wins the rematch?

This will be a game that I will attend! I think GC beating PN last week gives PC a lot of hope that North can be beat!

Central is in only due to end-of-the game comeback squeakers against Reynoldsburg and Gahanna. North has received their wakeup call and I think will win handily again.

Over on another thread the PN faithful are throwing the crew, bad calls, bad luck, the weather... even Grove City under the proverbial bus... for what?letting a 4-5 team show up and shut down a 40pt a game offense? Pride and arrogance - they are dangerous things.. and based upon the comments in the other thread - not sure PN has learned anything from losing to GC?
not sure what is going on down in that little "Grove-tuckey" town - but they are 5-1 against PN in the past 6yrs... seems like they have something figured out to knock of the #4 in the state..

Coke - Interesting indeed and believe you me it has already started! You know the deal so we`ll leave it at that. It just brought to mind an old favorite of mine
I`m sure you`ll be familiar with. "Happiness is a warm gun, bang ,bang shoot ,shoot."
Who knows Revolution may fit the bill.

Watch out indeed. I think All the pressure in this one goes to Pick. North. Central has already lost to North this year so they have nothing to lose. I do think the loss in week 10 could be a blessing in disguise for North, however. Now they can forget about the perfect season and just go out and handle business.

Oh yes, from the White Album. That along with "Everybody's got something to Hide except for me and my Monkey." The ballad of Rocky Raccoon, which I know is one of your other faves from way back, also comes to mind.
"Hit young Rocky in the eye Rocky didn't like that
He said I'm gonna get that boy"

In the first game, many of us felt the Tigers left opportunities on the field which gave us hope if these two teams were to lock horns again. I think that gives the Tigers hope more than anything else. Correct those deficiencies and go to work on Saturday night.
Before the game, the Tigers knew, that with a win over Gahanna, a rematch was very likely whether PN won or lost on Friday. Going unblemished in a D1 regular season is no easy task and many a talented team has come through to the playoffs with 1 or more losses.
So does it tells us things about the Panthers, sure, just the same as any game film. But there are intangibles that won't repeat from this past Friday.
I think one thing that the Central Coaching staff is very good at, is putting the kids in a postion to win every week. They give hope...
So call it Episode IV... A New Hope... These aren't the Tigers you are looking for...

Taking a step back, it may be more of a Pickerington Civil War than a Revolution. But I do love that song.
At this point, all speculation on where and who you play is over. Time to get down to business. Each week is a one game season. Win and go on, lose and go home. Whether you are playing a team from across town or across the state; a familiar foe or an unknown it is all the same. Get ready to rock and let it fly.

Friday nights reality check for the Panthers might be a beneficial thing. I imagine Central's staff has done a lot of analysis and has alot of hindsight in regards to week 5. It wouldn't have been healthy for North to head into the first round thinking they were bullet proof. I'll say North wins again but not by as much. Good luck to both teams.

Congratulations to both teams for their conference championships. Central for their 7th in a row(5 outright and 2 co-champs) and North for their first co-championship in football.
If the Tigers can put together 4 solid inspired quarters and minimize the turnovers it's going to be a great game North isn't going to take this game for granted.

I feel bad for PN. I really do. I am going to say PN will not be sleeping well the night before. This game match up couldn't have worked out any worse for PN. This is redemption football for PC. PN needs to play a good night to win. PC needs to play great to win.
PC finds ways to win. That's what they do year after year. I am impressed how they made it to the playoffs this year.
If PC can keep the PN "trio" suppressed, it's game on. I also think PC will have to pass their way to a win. Just an awful situation for PN.... PC has too much to play for in this game. Redemption is such a great motivator.

The best thing about being a "Pickerington" fan is that i'm in a no-lose situation! That said, I have always been a Tiger football fan first and Saturday will be no different. If the Tigers turn the ball over and/or come out with their ultra-conservative, one-yard-and-a-cloud-of-dust (mud) offense then they will get crushed again. Maybe someone can hypnotize Jay into thinking PC is down 14-0 at opening kickoff! I look for a close, hard-fought battle.
PS - Any chance of this gm being moved to Gahanna? The PN field is a total quagmire...almost unplayable even before the rain we'll get this week.

From what I understand, the problem with the first matchup was that Coach S acted Central was down 35-0 and was chucking bombs every other play....

ZERO. If they played in the mud volleyball pit that was Davidson's field last year, they'll play at North.

100% agree with both remarks. Although I still believe it will be the pass that PC will lean on to make the difference in this game.

What is Andrew Meyer's status for this game? He can be a real handful. Talented kid.
