Default Hilliard Davidson- 17 ; Dublin Coffman- 14 (Final) - 10-27-2012, 03:07 PM

Davidson has won 6 straight games after starting the season 2-2. The O-line appears to be gellin' like Magellan and Jennings express is rolling. Coffman rolled the Wildcats in the first matchup in Week 4 and looked like world beaters. Liberty played them surprisingly close in Week 9 and then UA put together a tremendous effort in week 10 to knock Coffman from the ranks of the unbeatens. Who wins the rematch?

Not ready to make a prediction on this game but the atmosphere should be electric..

I thing the Wildcats will be looking for redemption from the week 4 tilt and they will likely sharpen up the miscues from Friday nights victory.

Coffman on the other hand has opportunities to sharpen up miscues that cost them as well. Their setback has only a week to sink in, let it go and get focused again.

The Wildcats have had 6 weeks to mull on it.

I may have to give a slight mental edge to Davidson. Rocks at home will be tough, but I think the Wildcats thrive on that. Just talkin an edge, not the final score.

At one time it was reported that Iskie was not out for the full season. Any word if he will be back for the playoffs?

It will be interesting to see who Davidson brings out at qb. Rasoul has done a good job of managing games but the coaches brought in Nick Waters in the 2nd half against Marysville to jumpstart the O. Waters is a true threat running the option.

I think that HD's QB situation will be the key. Ackley did most of his damage when he broke outside contain especially on the weak side of Coffman's D. UA got almost nowhere between the tackles. EJ is a very different runner than Gus and doesn't have his breakaway speed. If the Cats don't have anyone else to help EJ, then it will be hard for them to keep the Rocks O on the sidelines, which is what they will need to do to have a shot at pulling the upset. But as we know, BW always has his teams ready to go. Should be a great one.

Just a few thoughts,Coffman looked like a tired team to me Fri. nite also UA was healthier than they have been, doubt if the Rocks will be as generous with the football as they were Fri.Has Coffman peaked or are the Wildcats peaking at the right time?I don't know but if the team I saw in week seven shows up Saturday they will be one tough out.

I think Coffman has peaked and Davidson is peaking but I just don't think the Wildcats can match up with Coffman's athletes on offense. I know Coffman hasn't played well AT ALL the past two weeks but I just can't see Crabtree letting that happen 3 weeks in a row. Closer than last time, but I think Coffman wins.

Others will likely disagree, but we've seen this phenomenon with the 'Rocks before. I noticed it first in '09. I know others will chime in that they lost Stoudt and that changed things, but I think it was broader than that. That '09 team came out absolutely on fire. Absolutely rolled some very good teams in Liberty, Brookhaven, and Groveport (w/ Leveon Bell). They continued at a high level, even with Caldwell at the helm, through week 9.

They played flat against an extremely mediocre UA team and came out really flat against an overmatched Springfield team, until their #'s wore Springfield down. They tightened up and got by a very good Westerville South team (despite being without their best player from both O and D), then got pretty well dominated against Davidson in the R3 title game. They were simply not playing at the same level in the last few weeks than they were in the first few weeks.

I'd argue that a somewhat similar pattern has played out each year since. Fading at the end instead of peaking at the end.

Maybe the UA game was an aberration and Coffman will turn it on again. However, the UA upset came on the heels of a close call against a very average Liberty team.

We'll see how it plays out.

I'm taking HD by 10.

This will be a better game than in week 4! Two different teams at this point in the season! Coach White will have his team ready! Coffman may win but it will not be easy! Hoping for a injury free tough ball game! Walking Boss you are right about Coffman! Seems to happen every year at some point with the Rocks! Watching the Rocks program for the last 8 years I feel this is coaching or lack there of!

Goldie: I'm not sure I'd hang this one on Crabbie. Although I guess anything that looks like a pattern (good or bad) flows to the coach.

I've watched a fair number of Coffman practices. To the degree that the "late season fade" is true, I think I would attribute it to two things, and neither are particularly bad, it just is what it is. They run a tight ship over their and they have a ton of kids. There is a certain energy at those practices, perhaps due to the sheer number of kids, that I do see at a lot of other practices. They are well prepared by week 1. It could be that they are just spent by the end of the season. Not sure if that makes sense, but that is what it looks like to me.

We'll see though. Maybe they'll break the trend and bounce back strongly from a couple of off-weeks and run the table.

I expect to see a very motivated Coffman team come out on Saturday.

I did hear that one of their WR's (Woodford?) may be out. Anyone know what happened?

No you can't blame Crabbie for that one! 6 turn overs for most teams equals a loss! Hopefully they can break the trend! Would be nice to see that!

Dew...how did Waters look calling the signals?
This could prove to be the move they needed to make to give them that speed threat.
Have they used PJ at all offensively?
That could be the triple threat they need to advance revenge.

I dont think Rasul was going to win them a playoff game.
I heard he did a good job managing the games(some of the non playoff teams), but they needed someone more dynamic like Waters to take the focus off of EJ.
Is Waters able to throw the ball at all to give the appearance of that threat to keep defenses honest?

Hope we see that rematch with you come week 13.
Thought it was going to happen this week but oh well we get a different rematch and so do you guys.

Good luck and break the rocks!

Lites - Waters did about as well as would be expected in the conditions that they played in on Saturday. He has played qb before at the JV level and he and Iske rotated snaps in the offseason so he knows what he is doing. We have yet to see him run the full offense and I would expect that is when you will see him excel. Very good speed and shiftiness and although he's not the biggest, he has good strength. I have only seen him pas a little bit but I know he has a good arm..he played baseball up until last year.

As for Motley, in the Marysville game his couple of runs seemed to wake up the offense. I would still love to see him get the ball maybe 7-8 times a game rather that the 2-3 that he gets now. We have run a lot of power the past 5-6 weeks and it has worked well so I imagine you will see plenty of that on Saturday but it I hope we get to see Nick and PJ get their chances too.
