Default (6-1) National Trail vs. (7-0) Covington - 10-07-2012, 08:50 AM

The surprise team in not only the CCC, but the state of Ohio, has got to be the National Trail Blazers. In the past it has taken the Blazers several seasons to amass 6 wins, and yet they have 6 out of 7 so far this season. Their only loss was to 6-1 Bradford. Covington comes into the game undefeated and in familiar territory. This years Covington team has been just short of unstoppable on both sides of the ball. The Buccs high scoring offense and stingy defense have made it tough on opposing teams. Trail comes to Covington with a high powered offense of their own. They run a spread offense, and like to air it out. Covington just faced a spread offense in Twin Valley South and had a little trouble in the first quarter. So it will be interesting to see how this one goes. No doubt Covington is a huge favorite in the game, but as I don't know much about Trail, does anyone have any insight from their perspective. I'm predicting 56-12.

National Trail is a great success story this season. The Blazers haven't played the toughest part of their schedule as that comes the final three weeks. With that said, this 6-1 start is a tremendous thing for their program and community. I think this is another game that should be a big win for Covington but its a great opportunity for NT to see where they measure. If they Blazers have playoff hopes, they'll need to win at least 1 of these final three games. My Prediction:

Covington 56
National Trail 14

Trail runs the spread better than TVS, and also a decent running game. When Trail played Bradford, Trail could not stop Canan, Braford could not stop the pass. With all of that said, Covington plastered Bradford. Do I believe Trail can win???????????????? The boys will need to play a perfect game. Can Trail score points on Covington? Yes. Especially if the QB gets anytime at all. Realistically Covington should win by several scores, but if they come out like they did against Bradford, should be a fun game to watch. Now I will wait for Biggbuccfan to explain to me why Covington will absolutely crush Trail, win the CCC, and be invited by the BCS. But seriously, I am very proud of the boys and the coaches, they have accomplished a lot in a very short time. I will be there friday night cheering, and probably swearing(under my breath) for Trail. Goodluck, and I hope both teams enter and leave the game healthy.

I genuinely hope that Trail does run the Spread offense better than TVS. Other than not playing well defensively in the 1st quarter the Buccs defended it well against TVS.

Playing a team that is better at the spread will hopefully prepare Covington for what's to come possibly in the playoffs if they meet up with Versailles and Coldwater.

The issue with teams that play the spread against Covington is that the Buccs defense has tended to get the oppositions offense off the field quickly and the Buccs offense has tended to eat up clock and score in a methodical fashion. If (big if) the Buccs offense works correctly....it serves it's purpose as a great defense too against spread offenses. It is one way that Anna was able to keep a close game with Coldwater last Friday (that and the weather).

Good luck to the Blazers this week and play the Buccs hard.

Go Buccs!!

The blazer O has been very sluggish the past few weeks. If they come out slow this week it will get ugly very fast. Beating the Buccs at home is a big challenge for any team. I say Buccs 56 Trail 24.

You are correct, the sluggish start against MV,Arcanum, and Bethel will only benefit Covington. Thye have to come out like they did against Bradford.

im just giving an honest opinion on Trail because as a Roader and ive seen them take thier fair share of lumps and a$$ whoopings... But take note, that if you compare last years roster for the Blazers and match it to this years... i do believe the 5 extra seniors, the junior WR and sophomore QB who all play for Trail and wasnt there for 2010 roster did infact make a huge impact for this years team. do i believe they can run on Covington No not a chance, do i think they can throw the ball on Covington , Yes, but only until Covington makes adjustments, and bring heat on the QB like they've not seen yet this year, TCN QB was on his back alot, M.East tried, and TVS gave it a shot.....the Running game is deff on Covingtons side im guessing 500 yds on the ground or more.. one thing Covington DOES NOT DO that Trail does against the run is MISS TACKLES.. just my honest opinion. with all the talk, all the media coverage on trail, newspaper articles and suchTrail has become the MEDIA Darlings. with all the attention focused on Trail and Covington just doing what they do best, blow teams out week after week, Trail may end up getting a major wake up call this week. Dont think for one minute that the coaches or players at Covington dont see all the Hype on Trail, and they wanna put Trail in its place in a RUDE way.... Do i believe that Covington may run the score up if given the chance? Yes, to prove a point... Covingon 62 Trail 13...as a Roader, and needing a covington loss to help us in the CCC Title... im torn between wanting Covington to beat Trail, and Trail beating Covington....

@ahs/NTfan.......... I just busted out laughing when i read the part of your post that said "Now I will wait for Biggbuccfan to explain to me why Covington will absolutely crush Trail, win the CCC, and be invited by the BCS." lol

Anyway i do not think trail can move the ball covington! Covington will be on the Qb as soon as he touches the ball and where covington may struggle aginst the pass they are most likely better at defending the pass than anyone else in the ccc! not sucking off Covington just saying!

I do not care who wins this game Trail Needs put in their place and i would LOVE to see covington get beat!

Good that was my intent. And Covington is a tall order. If Trail comes out quick, could be fun to watch. If they come out slow, as they have the last few weeks...................not as fun to watch.

I think regardless of what happens to Trail against Covington, they should be proud of the season they are having. I don't think they have any shot at beating the Buccs, but I'm sure they will give it their all. Covington is just way better than the rest of the league this year. The CCC still has some other teams playing very well. I hope for nothing but the best for Trail,TCN, and especially Bradford. Covington and Bradford for about a lock for the playoffs, but Trail and TCN are still very much in the hunt. I really don't think both teams can make it in though. It may come down to who wins between the 2. It should be an exciting few weeks.

Completely agree on Trail. The Blazers should give Covington all they have and not be discouraged if the outcome isn't a win. I'm hoping for at least 3 playoff teams from the CCC which is very possible.
