Is this the year? St. Charles (4-1) is coming off of 4 wins in a row and needs this to make the playoffs... DeSales (2-3) started off slow but just beat Chillicothe 34-0. This would really help keep their playoff streak alive.

St. Charles finally gets it done. DeSales bad, really bad. Hope I'm wrong though we could use the computer points. When I finally want to root for DeSales they probably lose. Go figure!!

I guess I'm kind of suprised folks are so down on DeSales. Yes they are 2-3, but they extended Gahanna to triple OT. Gahanna is 5-0 and #5 in the region. Is it the lopsided loss against NA that is weighing heavy?

WB...I thought the same thing...but isn't the jury is still out on how good Gahanna is (we'll find out this week and weeks 9 and 10) and it was Game 1. The NA loss AND the loss to a very mediocre RYE (KY) team indicate that they may not be improving. I hope they can avoid the unfathomable this week.

Gahanna the defense played pretty well but other then that neither team really deserved to win

Brookhaven they play poor in the first half and the best they have played all year in the 2nd

Ryle was not a good team DeSales made mistake after mistake. The same mistakes since the beginning of the year.

Chillicothe is just a bad team. DeSales played ok but kind of hard to tell.

If DeSales plays like they are capable of they win, if they continue to make the same mistakes they lose

I'm going to go with Desales in this one just because of the mental edge they hold over St. Charles. When a team has your number, like Desales has had SC's in the past, it can often be difficult to overcome.

The only way SC wins this game is if they're not intimidated by Desales and I'm going to go out on a limb and say they probably are. Also, Desales may be down this year but they're still good enough to beat a descent team every now and then.

Desales keeps the streak alive.

I'm hoping DeSales wins for the selfish reason that I'd rather not have St. CHuck secure a scarce playoff spot that I hope my Irish challenge for.

That being said, I've seen Fitzmartin in person and he is one heck of a back. The Stallions better have a defensive answer for him and bring their best tackling or they will struggle to win this one.

I don't think they're intimidated at all. In fact, overconfidence may be the problem. They might be taking it too lightly considering they've won their last 4 and DeSales is down... They have to be ready. They know this is the year.

Fitzmartin will come out more motivated than ever. He was deciding between DeSales and SC, and chose SC. He has many friends at DeSales who give him crap for the streak and he will run HARD. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for 200 yds.

Hope all of the kids who chose between the two schools don't let their emotions get the best of them, because there has been a lot of talking between students, parents and players.

To put things into perspective, SC's record before going into the DeSales game the last seven years was:

2012 4-1
2011 1-4
2010 5-0
2009 3-2
2008 4-1
2007 5-0
2006 5-0

So the program has been in this situation 5 out of the previous 7years with the players and parents having high expectations, and mayber better teams than this year's? The question is: How marginal is DeSales team this year?

JC88-- This is the best SC team in a long time-- even better than the team that made the playoffs and almost beat the State Champ Watterson team a couple years ago. The last couple years have been different... St Charles hasn't really played the caliber of teams the last 5-7 years that they played this year (Beechcroft, Eastmoor, Rogers, North = all playoff teams). I have never seen an SC team so motivated and focused on the task at hand. DeSales is also really down... Thats why SC wins by a comfortable margin
