Caught the first qtr on the radio. Got busy turned it back on with 34 sec left in the game. Sounded like Academy had someone different at qb. What happened to the starter?

#12 which you are referring to was standing on the sideline near Academy's head coach. I didn't see him get injured.

Yeah on the radio they werent saying numbers. I just remember the starting QB was Hart somethingor other and when i turned it back on a different kid was at qb. If the starter didnt get hurt and since academy was a long way from the end zone maybe the other qb could just huck it further??

Last night's game was some of the worst football I've ever paid to watch.

The final drive was one to remember especially since the Green Wave had struggle so much on offense the entire game.

You have a QB that had played his worse game ever, or the worse game I have watched him play.

He missed wide opened rec all game long
He held on to the forever while rec ran open almost making it look like he had no confidence in throwing the ball.
He took sacks that he could have avoided by throwing the ball away.

But then on the final drive he trots out to the field and found a way to lead his team to a win. He connected on a fourth and 10 after being ask to throw the ball deep three times as it appeared the play caller had panic putting the offense into a horrible situation.

Aaron Jurden makes the first big catch that kept the drive alive.

With the QB facing another fourth and long he threw the ball in the direction of Mitch Cox, who made a great finger tip catch to move the chains.

Then the QB threw a pass up in the air toward the endzone and Kevin Bourne, leaped up and made a big time catch giving the Green Wave the lead that they did not give up.

I won't get into how hard this one was to watch but will dare say that play calling looked more like it did in game one then it did in games 2-4.

NC won this game on a wing and a prayer.

I must be a glutton for punishment because I decided to listen to the replay of the game on the radio mostly because I am still in shock at how poorly this game was played. The local radio coverage is usually pretty objective. They, too, questioned the play designs and route selections, especially the passing plays where basically all the receivers ran the same route. What's up with that!!!

The QB continues to struggle big time. This young man was prematurely hyped by the coaching staff and the press. No player should ever have that kind of pressure hanging on them prior to actually playing out a season. Two interceptions, 4 sacks, and another week of poor stats. After watching this last game, I question whether any QB would have success under this system.

I expect more of the same in this week's game against Bexley. Winning the CA game guarantees nothing with the play I've witnessed. NC could easily drop the upcoming game to Bexley or even the Whitehall game and there's no chance they will be competitive in their games against Licking Valley or Granville unless major changes happen soon. The offense is not coming together in any fashion. NC's following is dwindling. I'm certainly not going to travel for this next one. I'm not paying to watch more of the same. There's no entertainment value in what NC is producing on the field.

What's sad is that many feel that this should be NC's year but the coaches seem to be doing everything possible to throw this year away.

With the way that NC played CA, wins against Whitehall and Bexley are not "in the bag". Lose one of them and playoff hopes are dead.

I disagree... Heath tried hard to give the game away and still cruised past Whitehall... Bexley is down...
Region 23 doesn't look deep at all... this might be one of those years 5-5 could have made it... and NC learned from those 6-4 playoff misses... NY will go 7-3 and give a whole lotta points

Bexley beat Lakewood by 38
CA beat Lakewood by 40

If #80 for CA had caught NC's poorly placed pass in the last few minutes, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I'd say Bexley and CA are pretty even in terms of competition so I wouldn't overlook them. If the NC's QB play doesn't turn around, NC won't be looking at the playoffs. Every team NC has left to play now knows that all they have to do is blitz the QB and the offense will fall apart.

it is truly not all the QB's fault at all. It all starts up front. And we have had a lot of dropped passes. Been a compbiantion of alot of things.

Newark Catholic has played two bad games and won one of them. At this minute I can not see them beating Valley or Granville. I think both of those teams could set records for sacks if N.C. gives up on the running game and ask the QB to throw. Granville has a Freshman (The Volcano) who will erupt all night long if the QB continues to hold the ball instead of throwing it away

With a QB 6-3 or 6-4 can someone explain to me what advantage there is in having him roll out instead of dropping back. He, the QB seems a lot better as a drop back passer then he does when rolling out.

I think the offensive line is giving the QB plenty of time. I timed 2 of the sacks and the QB had more than 7 secs to find a receiver or throw it away. Dropped passes don't account for the interceptions, the sacks or throwing into coverage. And make no mistake the coaching staff has responsibility for the poor play as well.

I agree the O-Line has done a very good job in pass protection this season.
