Hey Boss (figured you know) what is the status or Darius McDonald injured early in Coffman game (IMO he would have made a huge differance in that game!!) Is he lost for the year?

Thanks

Dub: Actually McDonald played the whole Coffman game, just didn't get the ball as much as he did in Week 1 vs. Canal (he still managed 6 catches and 2 rushes).

McDonald was hurt on the very first play of the Marysville game. Caught a pass on the opening play and gained 29 yards but was hurt at the end of the play.

He missed the rest of the Marysville game and all of the Westerville Central.

It was nice to see the offense continue as well without him (his replacement at Marysville, Cody Steffy, had 8 catches for ~125 yds and 3 TDs).

My understanding is that McDonald is not out for the season [I don't want to talk about the nature of the injury]. I suspect he will not play this week at Westerville North (or if he does it will be very sparingly), because I am sure they want him healthy for the stretch against Westerville South, Jerome, Darby, Bradley, and Kilbourne to close the season.

Its nice that Travis Yates has stepped up his game (big game against Marysville) so that DeMars has someone over 5'9" to throw to.

Dub: I'd expect him to play a lot. Like perhaps the entire second half.

He's a Soph named Nathan Densel. The Junior backup last year (Smith) didn't come out this year. He hasn't grown much since MS and the game sort of passed him by in that regard. Very nice kid, just not a HS QB at this level.

Densel was the QB for the team at Davis that went 19-0. His job there was mostly to hand the ball off to Nick Conner and watch him score 5 TDs per game.

Barring a career ending injury or hot-shot move in, Densel will be the QB the next two years. He's a good athlete and throws a good ball. He'll be physically bigger than Demars and is a better runner IMO. Not sure he'll have Evan's accuracy. It will be nice to see him get some Varsity snaps.

P.S.

He's also the oldest of 6 boys who are all good athletes (his younger brother is the 8th grade QB at Davis). Expect to hear the name "Densel" over the PA system a lot over the next decade.
