Week 3 Nominees

Grant Sherman, Kenton
Junior QB threw for a state record 684 yards and tied another state record with nine TDs in a 66-42 win over Lima Shawnee. Sherman completed 44-of-53 passes. The old record for passing yards in a game was 678 set by Sherwood Fairview’s Ryan Radcliff in a win over Defiance Ayesrville in 2006. The nine TDs ties five others, including Radcliff and former Kenton QB Maty Mauk. Sherman threw for 335 yards in the first quarter and had 570 at halftime.

Cody Pickard, Genoa
Sophomore kicker booted a state record six field goals in a 58-7 win over Fostoria. Pickard connected from 20, 20, 40, 20, 19 and 23 yards. He also had two misses: 35 and 39 yards. The previous record of five fields goals was set by Westerville Central’s Ben Buchanan (2007) and Westlake’s John Aerni (1986).

Darron Lee, New Albany
Senior QB accounted for six TDs as the Eagles beat Orange 53-33. Lee threw for four scores and ran for two more.

Justin Sawmiller, Kenton
Junior WR turned in a Top 10 all-time receiving performance in a 66-42 win over Lima Shawnee. Sawmiller caught 15 passes for two TDs and 318 yards, which ranks No. 6 all-time on the OHSAA single-game list.

Dymonte Thomas, Marlington
Senior RB ran for 309 yards and four TDs in a 34-24 win over Louisville.

Derrick Schneider, Fisher Catholic
RB rushed for 355 yards and three TDs in a 35-26 win over Berne Union.

Thomas Wibbeler, Zanesville
Junior QB completed 26-of-33 passes for 402 yards and five TDs, including three in the fourth quarter, as Zanesville rallied from a 24-12 deficit to beat Youngstown Ursuline 31-24.

A.J. Ouellette, Covington
RB carried the ball 23 times for 324 yards and five TDs in a 56-6 win over Bradford. The yardage total ranks No. 2 in program history for yards in a game (record is 334).

Nick Renzetti, Westerville South
Senior QB connected with Torrodd Carter for a school-record 99-yard TD pass as part of a 365-yard effort in a 28-7 win over Worthington Kilbourne.

Brandon Wells, West Branch
RB scored four TDs, including two on kickoff returns, in a 51-34 win over Alliance. Wells ran for 191 yards and two TDs on 24 carries ands returned kicks 90 and 70 yards for scores.

It looks like Nick Renzetti is going to be nominated this week. You have a young man that set a state record and tied another and he only gets 30 votes. There must be more people from the Columbus area on JJ's.

All of the young men on this list worthy of being nominated for player of the week. Congrats to all of them.

Tell people in Kenton to vote. I'm shocked the Wildcats don't have more support on this thread considering the following they have.

Eric, I think all the Kenton haters have scared off the Wiidcat fans. There were a lot more on here last decade.
