Default OSU's defensive line - 09-09-2012, 10:38 AM

Am I the only one who has been underwhelmed by the defensive line in the first two games? All I heard all off season was Simon, Goebble, Williams, Hankins etc. I heard their names far more often over the summer than I've heard their names called for making plays in the first two games.

I'm sitting here watching the replay on BTN right now and you wouldn't even know any of those guys were on the field if you couldn't see the numbers on their jerseys.

We've played a MAC team and a C-USA team and the D-line has registered, a whopping 2 sacks? And one of those was backup freshman Adolphus Washington. How are we going to look against Nebraska and Michigan State's offensive lines, if we look this soft against mid-majors?

"The name on the front of that jersey, is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back"

I agree. They have been the biggest concern for me so far. It's Goebel btw.

To me it looks schematic. Often you're seeing, in passing situations, Williams or Simon dropping into the flats. Obviously Meyer is frustrated as you could tell by his postgame comments and in game chewing of Vrabel and Fickell.

I agree with you that the Defense so far has been a bigger concern than the offense. You can run the ball on them and they get no pressure at all on the opposing QB. As for Central Florida, i was impressed with the talent level of this team, they may be a mid major but did not have mid major size and speed. They were much more talented than half the B1G teams the Buckeyes will be facing this year.

Its not just to D line... Wheres the middle LB Grant been? Rarely is his name called... The DB's are a talented group but seemed confused on what coverage theyre supposed to be in... ESPN had a couple close up shots of Fickell during the game and he had that "John Cooper" look...
The offense has been ok showing at times they can be really good but... Miller cant take the beatings week in and week out..

While the Bucks are 2-0 I really expected they would look much better by this time... Seems to be lots of confusion on both sides of the ball..

Mr Kenton..........we would appreciate you never EVER use the name of that previous coach again in a post.........people have nightmares thinking of those years and the team up north................

Bucks defense had some sloppy tackling today, allowing Cal to make some big plays. It was good to see the Bucks get 6 sacks tho.
