You vote, you decide...who had Ohio's best individual performance in Week 2? Find out who the nominees for the Ohio National Guard JJHuddle Ohio Football Player of the Week are here and how to pick the winner. The choices are impressive...
POLLS CLOSE AT NOON ON THURSDAY
Week 2 Nominees
Heath Harding, Dayton Christian
Senior RB/DB scored seven TDs in a 72-40 win over Preble Shawnee. Harding carried the ball five times for 263 yards and five TDs. He also scored on a 46-yard interception return and an 85-yard kickoff return. Through two games, Harding has 18 carries for 484 yards (26.8 per touch) and eight TDs.
Vance Settlemire, Findlay
Senior RB scored six TDs in a 61-14 win over host Reynoldsburg. Settlemire ran for five TDs (and 158 yards on 17 carries) and also returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a TD. His five rushing TDs give him 24 for his career and move him into second place on Findlay's all-time list. Settlemire is four TDs shy of the school record (28) held by former FHS QB and current FHS assistant Chris Schneider.
Mason Evers, Fort Recovery
Senior QB/DB broke his own school record for rushing yards in a game – set just last week – with 349 yards (and four TDs) on 34 carries in a 30-27 win over Waynesfield-Goshen. Evers also had two interceptions on defense. Last week Evers ran for 327 yards and four TDs in a 33-28 win over Edgerton.
Luke Bowling, Dixie
Senior QB/DB dominated on both sides of the ball in leading the Greyhounds to their first win over Germantown Valley View since 1985. Dixie dominated 45-27. On offense, Bowling threw for 250 yards and three TDs and rushed for 110 yards. On defense he had three interceptions, one of which he returned for a TD.
Denzel Norvell, Dayton Thurgood Marshall
Senior RB carried the ball 20 times for 286 yards and six TDs in a 69-10 win over Chaminade Julienne.
Grant Sherman, Kenton
Junior QB completed 20-of-24 passes for 360 yards and seven TDs in a 56-7 win over St. Marys. The kicker? Sherman did that all in the first half as Kenton scored 32 first quarter points and 24 in the second.
Jamal Johnson, New Philadelphia
Junior RB had 448 yards of offense in a 49-45 win over West Branch. Johnson ran for 324 yards and four TDs on 33 carries and added 114 yards and another TD on three catches.
Mitch Trubisky, Mentor
Senior QB completed 25-of-39 passes for 411 yards and three TDs, but it was his two fourth quarter TD runs that rallied the Cardinals to a 34-27 win over McDowell (Erie, Pa.).
Tim Kennedy, Hudson
WR/DB scored five TDs in a 56-33 win over Uniontown Lake. He caught nine passes for 138 yards and four TDs and returned an interception for a TD.
Jordan Ueltschy, Urichsville Claymont
QB accounted for six TDs in a 56-14 win over Indian Valley. He completed 19-of-28 passes for 257 yards and four TDs and ran for 114 yards and two TDs.
