Default Week 3: Fremont Ross (2-0) at Pickerington North (2-0) - 09-02-2012, 10:34 PM

North is coming off a 41-20 win over Cincinnati Princeton. The Panthers first three touchdowns came on 88 and 85 yard runs by Godwin Igwebuike and an 87 yard run by Mason Olszewski.

Godwin started with 2 carries for 173 and 2 TDs, but then wasn't used much offensively. He ended up with 8 carries for 201. He has 462 yards and 6 TDs in the first two games.

Jake Butt also had 2 receiving TDs. Would have had 3 if the ref made the correct call, on a tough play. After video review, his feet were in. But real time was tough to see.

Dylan Weigel is leading the defense with 34 tackles. The Panthers have a good rotation of players to keep everyone fresh.

Ross is coming off a 32-29 win over Brecksville-Broadview Heights.

This will be a great test for the Panthers as they gear up for the OCC.

The Little Giants are 2-0. Ross opened up the 2011 season thrashing their ancient arch-rivals from Sandusky 52-18. This past Friday night the purple and white went on the road to knock off Tommy Tupa Jr. and his Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees 32-29. The Little Giants are a veteran team led by QB Tyler Wolf who is a dual threat. In an off night at Brecksville he was 18 of 29 for 248 yards and 2 TDs. Wolf also carried the ball 15 times for 128 yards and 2 more TD's. Ross also features junior back Jabree Lather who ran for over 1000 yards as a Sophomore in 2011.

We know how good the Panthers are and expect a great game against a quality opponent.

The advantage of Central having a bye week, is I get to take in this game.

Looking forward to seeing GI in action (I caught the WS scrimmage when he was missing).

Go Panthers!

Saw highlights of Brecksville from Week 1 game in Clev Stadium.. to say they throw it around is an understatement. Safe to say the Little Giant pass D was tested last week. How is the run D? That could make the difference in this game.

The Panthers will be more balanced in their attack with the ability to strike on the ground and through the air as noted in the stats above.

Safe Travels to all coming down for the game. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If I may answer, the Ross run D seems to be better thus far than it has in recent years, but just like last week being tested with the Bees passing attack, I'm sure the Little Giants will be tested thoroughly regarding North's rushing attack.

This will be a good test for North, but I expect them to pull away in the 2nd half. I see North being 5-0 when they come to Tiger Stadium in a few weeks.

Good win. I figured GI would have a big game. He is something to watch.

The defense really impressed me after the first FR series.

Week 5 at the "Ditch" should be a war.

Great win by PN, looks like it was close early on then PN delivered the knock out punch. This team must be the real deal.

It seems to take PNs defense a little to get started in these games. They seem to get scored on early but then find a way to step it up. Good job last night all around by the panthers. Keep it up and don't become satisfied.

Congrats to the Panthers on your win. We see why you are considered one of the best DI teams in Central Ohio. Good luck the rest of the way and see you next season at the Don.

Sounds like the Panthers definitely have it going on. Didn't see the game, how did you feel Fremont stacked up against OCC Ohio teams, OCC teams?

In your opinion, based on the apparent quick strike ability of the Panthers, how much of it is the Panther D settling in versus the other team trying to change things up to get back the quick score?

Similar to when you play a heavy ball control team like Lancaster in the day or Davidson. They keep the ball for so long and get points that the opponent gets fewer opportunities and feel the pressure to score. Thus impacting execution because they are pressing for success. Just curious on your thoughts...

It didn't seem like FR changed their game plan. After PN scored first they came right back to even the score and when PN scored again they returned the kick 95yds to even it again except they missed the PAT. The drove down again but decided to go for it on fourth down near the goalline and once the stop was made PNs defense really stepped up their game from that moment on.

Scott, thanks for your thoughts.

I asked the question about the comparison to the OCC teams based on Friday's article in the dispatch about local teams traveling further to find non conference games. The article talked about this game as well as the Gales traveling to Twinsburg and others games outside the Central Ohio area.
