Default Cardinal Mooney @ Warren Harding - 09-02-2012, 08:04 AM

Both teams coming off of resounding shutout victories over their cross-town rivals! Harding stuffed the Howland Tigers 34-0, while the Cardinals blanked the Spartans from Boardman 37-0! Mooney holds the series lead 14 to 9.

The Raiders lost their opener at Austintown Fitch, while Mooney was beaten by St Ignatius in Cleveland. I look for a relatively low-scoring, defensive battle. Both teams like to run the ball and both teams defend the run well. Special teams' play, turnovers and penalties will play a big part in determining the outcome of this one!

Good luck to both teams...

GO CARDS!!!

Sal has the Cards as 9 point favorites. Nicky Numbers has the Cards at -5.

Mooney wins and moves closer to a showdown with SVSM. This is the best Akron Irish team since Frank Stams played and SVSM beat Mooney in the playoffs.

I give the edge to the Cardinals.
Wgh played an over matched Howland team and had some trouble moving the ball at times. While the D looked good, Mooney is not Howland, they are going to pound the rock. I did see some improvment in the Raiders passing game once the QB settled down and let things flow. This may be a key to this game if the Cards are able to shut down WGH'S run game.
Looking forward to seeing all of my Friends.

GO RAIDERS !!!!

Both teams came up with dominant performances in week 2. This game is absolutely huge as far as the playoffs are concerned.

Mooney is on a different level compared to Howland, but WGH improved significantly from week 1. There will be a lot of hard hits between these old rivals. Gotta go with the "homer pick," but not by much.

WGH 14
Mooney 10

Should be a very very physical game, Mooney has had their number the last couple times they have played, Harding should be able to slow down the Mooney run game to an extent but will need big plays to get the W. I see Mooney wearing WGH down by the 4th and coming away with a victory. Mooney 27 WGH 13

I was at the Howland/Harding game and despite Warren’s huge win was not all that impressed with them. Have to go with the Cardinals by a couple TDs.

With all due respect the only time that ASVM has managed to beat the Cardinals Mr. Stams was a senior member of Notre Dame's last National Championship team. The two never met on the gridiron until a few years after he graduated from ASVM.

The great one speaks! Sorry North but I have to believe the oracle of Erie St. on this one.

Oops. I blush. I had my teams confused. Well many believe that this year's edition of SVSM compares favorably to the 1988 and '81-'82 teams.

At any rate the North Hill gang picks Mooney this week.

Let's not forget that Harding is state wide open enrollment.

Your shot about the Mahoning All Stars doesn't hold a lot of water when you're dealing with a team that can get kids from all over the state of Ohio.

Lchsman you have mail

Didn't a basketball player form Euclid show up last year? Of course they do don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining. I personally could care less kind of like I feel about trolls like you.

Ladies & gentlemen, this is a big week for players, coaches, and fans of both programs. Both of us have proud traditions & educational opportunities that have attracted student athletes in. Why can't we enjoy what we have & get excited about the game?
