Delaware Hayes played Buckeye Valley last night at 7:00. Delaware was the victor 41-8 with BV's TD coming late against the back up defense. I was not able to attend but was told Delaware's freshmen team looked good with several running backs that were moving the chains. A good start to the Battle of Delaware County week. I bought my varsity tickets last night pre-sale to make sure I got them.

Thomas Worthington 28
Westerville North 24

With losing it's four best players, a very good showing by the Warriors.

Westerville Central beat Big Walnut 14-7 in a great game. Big Walnut led in TOP and rushing yards but Centrals pass defense was crazy good. Westerville Central has a great group if they can stick together. There were no losers in this game. Big Walnut had 4th and goal on the 5-8 yd line with 11 seconds left in the game and Centrals D stepped up and stopped the nut on 4th down. Very impressive start for both teams. Came down to last play.

Darby 18
Watty 13

Deceptive score as Darby was up 18-0 at half an had a 7 min opening drive in the 3rd when they thru a pick 6 near the goal line.
Then with 1 min and change left BW took a nice punt return back for about 30 and threw up a nice jump ball in the endzone for the TD.
Credit BW for hanging in and not quitting!

Darby needs to step on the throat there. Good live game learning situations for the youngins.

Stay thirsty my friends!

That's pretty impressive for North to go out there and actually put up a fight. Kudos to them! How many kids are they down to now?

Anybody know how the evil empire (South) did?

Sounds like the the OCC Cardinal is 3-1 thus far:

Westerville South 1-0
Westerville Central 1-0
Hilliard Darby 1-0
Westerville North 0-1

On the OCC Central is 1-1:

Thomas Worthington 1-0
Upper Arlington 0-1

It would be nice if someone could take point on tracking this. We always get to about the midway point and people start wondering about how teams are doing.

Jerome beat Coffman 24 - 13. Pretty surprising for all of the talent in the Coffman freshman class. Got all the kids from Sells and most of the kids from Karrer and didn't look too good today. They'll be alright though, I think the Jerome kids just wanted it more today.

Scioto took Canal Winchester to the woodshed 27-0. Could have been significantly worse. Scioto coaches subbed freely starting on the second drive of the game. Everyone one on the team got a ton of playing time. Nice job Irish!

Cardinal is 5-1 by my count now (Darby, WS, WC, Jerome, Scioto won, WN lost). How'd Bradley & Kilbourne frosh do?

Their JV also won bring the broom out for the weekend.

Davidson beat Grove City 10-0. GC did not pick up a first down in the second half.

As far as Jerome frosh is concerned, that score does not surprise me. Grizzell went undefeated in 7th and 8th and they had some studs on that squad.

Small correction Wildcat, that Grizzell team went 13-1. They lost their last game to the Irish of Dublin Davis under the lights at Scioto. They do indeed have some studs on that team though, you are right about that.

I didn't know that. I just assumed they beat Davis who was the weakest of the 4 Dublin teams last year.

Easy assumption to make. The problem with Davis was coaching, not talent and the kids were hungry that night. Plus, Grizzell lost thei best player the week before with a broken collar bone (Davis started their 4th string QB that game and were without their best D-lineman too, so it was sort of a push). In 7th grade, when both teams were at full strength, Grizzell only won by a point and Davis dropped a winning TD pass in the end zone as time expired, so these two match up very well despite very different records in MS.

I heard they won in overtime. They're down to about 20 now.
