Thoughts? Predictions? Is this still a rebuilding year under Phillips? Or can we contend for the WBL title?

Just a note from a humble man who played and loves the game.

I have seen other good football programs go the way of Sidney. That road is clearly mapped. Just change offensives every year. The players think and do not react. It is a hole you may never dig out of.

I think the Riders will go 7-3 or 8-2 but I guess it depends on how far the players want to go. Does anyone know how the Riders did in scrimmages yesterday?

Should we all bring lawn chairs or blankets to the home games? Better yet everyone meet across the 4 lane to the south and we all can roost atop aap or propet to watch games!

We're coming up from Urbana on Friday. Will the game be at the new field on Shipman Road? Should we really bring lawn chairs or are there bleachers?

Worst St Marys team I ever seen play in a Chicken Bowl.

It took Skip 40 years to build and it took an Mary R 3 years to tear it down.

You cannot fix a program by changing the frickin offense every year.

That defense was horrible! Defense is the side of the ball that really wins games. We catch; we don't tackle!

It was almost as if there were 2 different teams. One team that played 1 1/2 quarters and another team that played 1/2 of the 2nd and then 3rd quarter.

If the team that played the 2nd half shows up and is running hard and making tackles and can just eat up the clock then I'm having high hopes this season. If each game starts off like they did in the first quarter it will be ugly fast before anything can be done to make it up. Allowing them 21 points fast was bad. Missing tackles giving up huge yards.

The biggest thing I saw that I liked was the air attack. He was on the move on most passes and still accurate. The WRs were able to catch the ball too. I think I saw more completed passes in that game then the Riders had all season some years. It helped open the run game a bit as well, as it should.

Going for it on 4th down twice in a row and getting them I think helped boost the offense. After that they were able to look good and keep the drive going. about 8 mins off the clock on 1 drive? Wearing the D down and keep the ball out of their hands. If we can do that consistently we can win games.

The offense we saw against Urbana will be similar to week 1 Sidney and week 2 Kenton. So those CBs better be ready. I don't like the fact of how many are playing both ways. Having 1/2 your Offense out there on D the whole game as well will just bite you in the 4th quarter.

But here is to a good year! I'm hoping to see a 7-3 season.

I think the kids have gotten past the "Frye thing".....it's been three years, and the majority of the current players weren't even around Frye that much. It's probably a bigger deal for the fans/boosters than the players. It will be a "rivalry" game (as always), but not a "revenge" game due to Frye's departure.
