Default Cost of health care overhaul down, but uninsured up due to Supreme Court ruling - 07-25-2012, 02:49 PM

What in the world is going on??? Wasn't the idea that the uninsured had a path to be taken care of...now the CBO says that is not the case. Wishful thinking!

the article gives you your answer. it said it is because of the gop governors who won't implement the state exchanges or medicaid expansion.

It says " But CBO said 3 million more people will be left uninsured compared to its previous estimate of the number of uninsured in 2022 – that’s because at least some states are expected to forgo the Medicaid expansion that had been mandated by Affordable Care Act (ACA)."

Then it follows with "Some governors – such as Govs. Rick Scott of Florida and Rick Perry of Texas – have said their states would not participate in the Medicaid expansion, but it’s still too soon to know which states will adopt the program and which ones won’t."

That is not saying that it is GOP governers only. Plus it also states " It explained that the number of additional people entering the exchanges as a result of the Supreme Court ruling will be “only about half the number who will not be obtaining Medicaid coverage, many of whom will be ineligible to participate in the exchanges.”

Sorry...as much as I agree that all USA Citezins should have coverage...this idea is broke!

I really do not think any governor can just opt out. I believe this will be decided by the legislatures of each state. It really does not matter if the state or the federal govt. pays the bill, it will be the taxpapers paying the bill when it is all said and done. I really do not like the way this is set up Fed. will pay 100% then 90% and so on and soon it will be states you are now screwed with the biggest part of the bill. All the while the Fed Govt get to say who get what and how much. This is sounding more and more like no child left behind, great idea , Feds pass the law and then say Ok states you must do this and somehow pay for it.

i don't like the way it was set up either. you aren't going to believe or like this but the idea of medicaid and medicare being under state control was reagan's. he sent it back to the states, to frankly, kill the program. he made his political name in calling it communism on the borax commercials on the tele.

Somebody must of forgot to kill it. I don,t care who fault it was or is, but what is happening now seems to be making it worst. I think it is time people in govt. should work to make things better and not just making thing more screwed up than it already is.

i respect your opinion, but most of us have no intention of killing it. constructive criticism is appreciated in terms of making things better, but no one will be killing any of this stuff.

have a great evening.

actually i meant, 'christians.'

funny so many of my friends would insist on this being a christian nation and yet, when there is a chance to prove that, they are nowhere to be found.

It is not a Christian nation, not should it be. It should be a nation of free thinking people, of which it appears that you have no idea about. Why the hostility towards people who have a different view than you?

In addition, I doubt that you have "so many friends".

1--i never said it was--or even that it should be--a christian nation.. i merely note that most who do want it to be a christian nation would rather die than have the government feed the poor. you make the call, i have;
2--i am a free thinker. consider, that day after day i come here and i am pretty much the only consistent poster who disagrees with all of you guys who all seem to think exactly alike. then you would say that the guy who thinks unlike everyone else on the forum is NOT a free thinker?
3--no one said feeding the hungry would be easy;
4--many are called, few are chosen;
5--quit making excuses and get on board;
6-- we can do without the personal attacks. i have lots of friends.

he was an idiot, and if he was alive today he'd still be an idiot. he spent over a trillion dollars upgrading our military to defeat a foe who was totally unprepared to defend itself let alone project power. not once in the post reconstruction era did the soviets effectively project power. not once. they had no look down radar as proven by mathias rust when he landed his plane on red square. . their navy except for submarines almost never left harbor. they were still using vacuum tubes in both their space program and their top secret (we had one, ha ha) new backfire bomber. their tanks wee a joke as proven by the isaelis in the sinai. we actually helped them secure their missiles. it's a fact.

you can fool yourself, apparently it is pretty easy, but you can never fool me.

Please tell me why? It is ok to admitt that you are wrong. Please don't try to evolve!

Take it from there! System is broke. CBO has spoken!
