Exclamation Best Games of Week One - 07-09-2012, 02:25 PM

Give me your best shot.

What do you think are the best match-ups for Week One?

I always attend The Backyard Brawl, Alter vs. Fairmont. Not so much for the competitiveness on the field, but for the atmosphere. It's one of the best games as far as atmosphere you'll find before the playoffs. It's a great way to start the season.

+1, it's one of the best nights of the year for me. About 6 years ago, I even attended after coming down with the flu the morning of.

I have had skin in this game for the past few years, and do so again this year, but even after this year I don't ever see not attending this game.

I hope it is a great game. Truth is, out of the last three times we've played, we've only played about one half (of one game) to our potential. We just have not had the horses to match up with Hartley. If we could go back to 09', I'd love our chances. Maybe 2012 will be different. See you there!

Others may laugh, but the one I am looking most forward to is Westerville North at Franklin Heights. The game represents North's best shot at ending a 35 game losing streak and, to add to the intrigue, Mike Owens (who was the North Coach for 30 of those 35 losses I believe) is the new coach at Franklin Heights.

It obviously won't be the ONN game of the week, but it will be the final score I am most interested in.

My wife and I have attended this game for the past 8 years. We even have taken our 2 year old son the past two years. It's a great atmosphere!

One side has a bit more "atmosphere" - assume you sit on that side? You know, the side where you need to wear sunglasses.

Got to admit they played us even the first half. Made a few people nervous!
Hopefully another great game!

I think it will be:

In reality, Fairmont has kept most of the Backyard Brawls close at halftime but then fall apart in the second half. I'm assuming halftime adjustments and conditioning play a big part.

Going to see Pick Central against Colerain, but Cardinal Mooney vs. Iggy really has my interest

Ill attend the Battle for Broad Street (Licking Heights vs Watkins Memorial)! Huge turnout for these schools are less than 10 miles away from each and have been long time rivals since early 1900's! No other game like it. Also holds possible playoff implications for DII

I will have to agree with Walking Boss: The Franklin Heights and Westerville North game will be the game to watch IMO. I pick Franklin Heights by 21.

I do think you're crazy, at least on that one. Were you the SC fan predicting St. Chuck would be in the mix for the R3 playoffs last year?
