Default Google reports 'alarming' rise in government censorship requests - 06-18-2012, 01:46 PM

What don't they want us to know?

In the last half of 2011, U.S. agencies asked Google to remove 6,192 individual pieces of content from its search results, blog posts or archives of online videos, according to the report. That's up 718% compared with the 757 such items that U.S. agencies asked Google to remove in the six months prior.

my question would be why?

I mean I can see logical reasons that are harmless:
say you change a law or regulation and a google search still comes up with the old way of doing things?

wouldn't it make sense to make that request to not confuse people?

this seems like only part of the picture - could be very bad - could be nothing
