I have a hard time fathoming that this issued isn't resolved yet. If I were either team, I'd be worried I was courting disaster unless there is absolutely certainty with regard to his bona fide residence. Maybe its just me....

Not just you, Boss. OHSAA takes a very dim view on situations like this. South allowed him to participate in non-sanctioned events, but when it came to official practice, he was not allowed to participate.

He better make a decision now before options are spent and senior year goes to waste.

Lots of talk about Ball playing qb at Gahanna. Their returning qb, after being injured last year, is real good.

I've seen kids who families rented apartments fufill this requirement and things go wihtout a hitch, so I scratched my head when it happened but there were no reprecussions.

Not mentioning specifics for obvious reasons, but it has happened with simply parents renting an apartment and saying they're living there, getting their mail there etc.. But actually having a house in another location in Central Ohio.

OHSAA is well aware of this trick. I am sure Ball is on their radar, too. They send an investigator to the address listed to see if there is evidence of the student/athlete actually living there.

Maybe in the next few days, he'll call a press conference. He'll be seated behind a table that contains nothing but a red & white Westerville South hat and a Blue & Gold Gahanna Lincoln hat....He will coyly let his hands hover over each hat until he reaches for the Gahanna hat only to quickly draw his hand back....his other hand will quickly dart toward the Westerville South hat...he will grasp the brim and begin to lift the hat only to place it back down...he will then offer the hushed crowd a big, Cheshire Cat smile....next he will....{stay tuned}

Boss: HAHAHA! This does smack of prima donna.

D'Oro I'm not sure about a 'drop dead date', but the point of no return is as soon as he officially practices with a team.

Not that easy folks, Ohsaa doesnt care if you live in the schools district, they need a reason now. A reason you moved. Just went trhough this last year with my son. We croosed all the Ts and dotted the I s. But my sons former school told OHSAA we moved for football, which was not the case. That was enough for them to ban him, without any evidence, from playing for one year. Ultimately, an eviction notice we had received at former address, helped re instate him two days before first game last year.

I think that is ridiculous. If you and your family decide to move your family into a different neighborhood for any reason that is your choice. Even if it was for football. People do it all the time, sports are under the microscope too much. Let 'em live!
Look at the NCAA and all of their "rules", I can see the importance of some of them to keep the integrity of the game, but we are getting a little heavy on controlling people's lives here don't ya think? Please tell me if I'm wrong. Why can't kids earn something for playing in NCAA? I would say they should put it in an account and when they finish their career they are allowed to withdraw the money then, kinda like a bond. That way at least it's more transparent and we know exactly what's happening. (I know I'm going extreme here), but people make lots of money for doing a lot less that what these guys are busting their butts for.
Heck even the NFL has been going thru this type of control stuff... smh

If you and your family move to another community then it is fine, you can play at the new school.

It is not the average family that cause such a problem with this, it is the select few coaches, personal representative "coaches and fanatic parents that prize winning the "new fashion way- LeBron style," taking their talents to South Beach. Don't develop your team, recruit or find a new one.
