Ohio Talent Helping Xavier Reload -

There's more than one good reason to hire a new assistant coach at a college. In the case of Bryce McKey, who was hired as a Xavier assistant last year following his assistant's work at Hathaway Brown, it could have included not only his coaching ability, but his background of working with the OGBR skills camps, coaching Ohio teams in the Ohio-Michigan border battle, etc. Bryce already knew many of the players Xavier should be interested in. In addition to a player each from Kentucky and Florida, Xavier's recruiting class for next year includes 6'5" post CeDra Evans from Toledo Rogers (formerly from Start), 6'1" forward Brianna Glover from Mason, and most recently 5'7" shooting guard Aliyah Zantt from Reynoldsburg. Zantt had originally given a verbal commitment to Eastern Michigan, but when the coaching situation there changed, she eventually settled on Xavier, where McKey had been trying to get her all along.
Add to that class an early verbal for next year from 6'1" forward Maddison Blackwell of Gahanna Lincoln, and it becomes clear the Musketeers are reloading with "home grown" talent, talent with which a certain assistant coach was already familiar.
