each group from yesr to year is different.. IMO in 2012, talent will not be an issue.. the quality of kids overall will not be an issue.. but inexperience and how fast this group matures as a team, and on the field, could very well ultimately be the deciding factor..

I will also add that this may be the most difficult overall schedule any Blue Devil Team has faced in recent seasons.. but if these kids display "as a team" what they are capable of, then winning each game on this schedule is not out of the question.. it could be very interesting as it appears several of the schools on the schedule feel they have equally solid groups..

Go Blue !!!

Nice schedule. Blue Devils could get in the play-offs with 7-8 wins.

Agreed - last year was a great game. Let's hope for some cooler weather this year though as last year the heat that night was oppressive.

Always nice to play in ZZV - very nice facility - great people!

there doesn`t seem to be much love for the Blue Devils in 2012 pre season forecasts.

Quote:
Region 7 Preview

* Zanesville (7-3): The Blue Devils may be a year away from a special run. A strong junior class includes DB JT MacFarland (5-10, 175) and LB Dar Stanford (5-10, 165).
? the last I knew, Dar Stanford was a WR/DB ?

Heard that the scrimmage with Tri Valley was a real snoozer. Both teams played it conservative with many starters seeing limited or no time at all. Devil's defense has real issues at stopping the run and o-line is big and soft. Even though the Devils lead 17-7 when both team put the jv players in the game, TV seams to have all the ingredients to be be the best team in school history. Good luck to both schools.

HONDA2000, if you weren't at the game how can you make a decision on either team. If both teams didn't play their starters very much how do you come up with your analysis. If Z-villes line was so bad why wasn't Tri Valley up by 3 scores. We will see how good both teams will be, schedule wise Tri Valley doesn't even compare. Also how do you judge Tri Valley can be the best team in history. I have seen a lot of TV teams and some would be tough to beat. Does that mean that Tri Valley will once again win the MVL?

Honda2000 I will agree with about our BIG SOFT O LINE..... These guys have to play every dwn they r out there. I was there to c it. I heard Chad yelling at all of them to keep blocking. We r way to big to not get 1 yrd on 4 and 1.Zanesville with the way our gms r set up should be hosting a gm come week 11. Go Blue....

I expected you guys to get at least second in the league last year. Hopefully the kids adjust to the tougher schedule and you guys can get some key wins and get into the playoffs.

Would like to see Claymont and Zanesville play at some point.

something that anyone really watching would have had to notice was the substitution pattern used.. however talented the Blue Devils appear to be, there is a great deal of inexperience on this years` team in some key areas and the Coaching Staff has taken the opportunity to rotate a number of kids in and out in the hopes of getting them some reps heading into the start of the year.. especially on the offensive and defensive lines.. so in that regard, there is going to be obvious inconsistancies.. it appeared TV did much of the same.. also addiing in the Zanesville injury situation along with TV missing Austin Jones (arguably IMO their best team player) on both sides of the ball due to injury, then putting much stock into the end result of the scrimmage doesn't hold much water.. both of these teams have the talent to go places this season.. but both have a lot of work to do and in a hurry..

JagDad? What injuries do we have? All of our skilled players and talented players were out there at the start of the scrimmage. The Curtis boy who starts got hurt and is now out,but before that I heard of none.Go Blue..

Markell Curtis will be missed a great deal, aside from his ability, he's an "energy kid".. anytime you lose a starter, it's a hit.. but when you lose a starter that plays with contsant energy and enthusiasm and is a vocal on the field leader then it`s hard to replace.. there are various injuries along the line that currently most of them are working to play through.. we can have 50, as you say skilled and talented players, but if the line on both sides of the ball isn't healthy and/or doesn't perform up to the standard necessary against this season`s schedule then finding the Playoffs could be a chore..

as I've mentioned.. the talent is there for 10 -0 or 9 - 1 but if things don't fall into place it could easily be a .500 year.. one thing I think most who know this group of kids can tell you is that this team appears to have a "business like" attitude as well as a hunger and togetherness about it.. personally I hope so because they will need that group attitude to succeed..

time will tell because starting this week "it counts" !!!

GO BLUE!!!

Zanesville - Newark, what a rivalry. As a Lancaster fan I sure do miss the Golden Gales and Blue Devils playing. What a great league the C.O.L. was back in the 60's and 70's.

so right.. the times, zoning, as well as many other things have changed so much of what once was one of the great Leagues for high school football in Ohio..
