The Texas Rangers lost to the Kansas City Royals last night. I guess the Rangers have been overrated all season and aren't really the best team in baseball.
Having coached this game for a long time, I have found one easy way to spot someone who doesn't understand softball or baseball. They put way too much stock in the result of one game. If someone asks a coach what is wrong with the team after one loss to what appears to be a lesser team, then you have someone who is not in touch with the game.
Imagine if the media asked Rangers manager Ron Washington what was wrong with his team after last night's loss? He would have looked at them like they were crazy, and they have now lost two in a row. But in high school or college ball, since we don't play as many games, the media and some people want to treat every loss or 2-3 game losing streak as a major catastrophe, when in reality it's usually just the odds catching up to the team.
I am familiar with Southview and Springfield. Yes, Springfield has had the better season and was certainly the favorite. But it's not a shock by any means that Southview wins that game.

Yes, you know they say about karma. It always comes back to bite you.
Ask AW if winning the NLL title last year and then not making it to the regional finals meant their season wasn't worth anything, and I think you'll have a different answer than what you're implying. It is the ultimate goal of every team to make it to States, but please don't diminish winning the NLL title, because it is always the first goal of every team. It's the first step towards reaching the goal of being a state champion. Is it heartbreaking to lose early in the tournament, especialy when you're team had all of the tools and hoped to make a good run? Yes, definitely it is, but that's just how some things go. But ask anyone, Ali pitched the game of her life against Springfield, it was their day, not Springfield's. But that doesn't take away a great season that those Springfield girls had, unless you consider your NLL team to not be a worthy competitor in the NLL.

One and done time.....you need some breaks along the way but some one will be the winner at the end of the tournament, and it will probably be the most consistent team.

I didn't mean to diminish Springfield's accomplishments this season. All I meant was that being ranked fifth in the state seemed a bit much, because they really had no dominant pitching to bring to the table. I think overall the NLL is on a down year in the circle. That's all.
AW lost to Ashland down in Tiffin tonight, by the way. 4-2. So that leaves Perrysburg and Southview to represent.
