Those teams would never leave the MAC. I think Ft Loramie is a possibility. MU's talent pool is going to get as dry as my yard after next year. Soph, Frosh and Jr High is baren land. I can see MU becoming a doormat the next few years in everything in the Buckeye. Pearce has his work cut out for him. I could see him moving onto another school during this period. West Milton is going to have a new school and poor sports teams to compliment it. I think the coaches need to get uber-involved in the youth programs. That is where it starts.
As for scheduling... I think getting rid of Bellbrook and Tipp is essential after this year. Koogler is setting this program up for a huge fall if he doesn't get creative. MU will likely be D5 after the next census. We need to even look at joining the CCC in an expanded form. I wasn't aware of this until this last weekend. It's really going to get weird. Moving out of and demolishing that old high school will in it's own way destroy that long-standing tradition.
Here is what I am seeing after the eye-opening talk I had this past saturday...
Miami East
Troy Christian
Ft. Loramie
weakest SW division team we can find.

What type of conversation did you have Saturday? One that has MU shrinking in size and not being competitive?

One that has MU declining in enrollment and one that has MU not having the kids out for sports to create the athletes. Not that we won't be competitive, but we will struggle.

Freak, how is the Junior class talent level ?
I think we could handle Troy Christian, especially if they continue to not field a varsity football team.
You can thank "free trade outsourcing" and bad local government decisions by those crotchety old dinosaur city fathers of West Milton from the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s for the decline of the town. Those old geezers had the foresight of Stevie Wonder.

I agree Angry. Yea, Troy Christian is a scratch. I still think the Dogs will be moving down a notch or two. Seems pretty sad.
I was in the new HS and the facilities for Basketball are crazy. That is probably one of the nicest gyms around. Impressive is an understatement. Maybe we become a basketball power?

That seems to be the flow of it except for a few years every now and then, through the late 60 to the early 80's our basketball team was terrible but our football team was dominate. Then from the mid 80's to the early 2000's out football was at best occasion respectable and most years mediocre to down right terrible, at the same time or basketball was actually respectable a decent portion of the time then in starting in the 2002-03 school year we've only had 1 winning season in 10 years in basketball while we've had 6 winning season in football and 5 playoff teams. It just doesn't seem like we can substance a good football and basketball team at the same time.

Angry John you cant play Versailles or any MAC school in week 3 as the MAC only has the 1st 2 weeks as out of conference games.
As for wanting a new league you can thank Milton for being the final straw that caused the collapse.
When SCC decided to leave the remaining AD's decided to stand pat and see what happens.....well Milton got cold feet and Overla ( I think was AD at the time not 100%sure) jumped at the opportunity to go to the swbl). When that happened Katy bar the door the SRC went down.....
One Al Hetrick was pissed as a hornet and when Versailles played Milton he was really giving it to some Milton coaches about the whole ordeal.

^^^^^ TROLL^^^^^
snake, it wasn't MU solely. It was MU-Tipp and Miami East if you know the whole truth. Who freaking cares what Hetrick thought? He was pizzed because he was going to really have to coach to beat those MAC schools. Versailles was talking to the MAC before MU ever made any move. I was there in Overla's office when this happened and Bill told me that everyone in the league was going their own way due to Versailles and Lehman being courted by the MAC. So, the SWBL, where we were for 30+ years, came calling as did the CCC and the CBC. Versailles and Lehman not offering the same amount of sports as the rest of the conference was a sticking point. So, MU WASN'T the final straw. Get some facts straight before you post something like that. Tipp was with MU 110 percent, so blame them too.
Woody, Milton was never a basketball school as much as a Football school. Milton always had stronger coaches and kids better suited to play football.
Basketball was just something to fill your time during the winter. In the 78-79 basketball year, the team went to the Regional final where they lost to Cin. Reading, after defeating Dayton Fairview. Reading was just much taller. MU made it to the Regional finals in the 50's a couple of time and won the SWBL title, I believe, 5-6 years in a row. In the late 90s you had Randy Thompson as the coach and he put a very competitive team on the floor. Making it to the Regional finals a couple of times but never winning the league. Last league title was my Junior year when we went 19-1, losing to Vandalia Butler during christmas break. They were knocked off in the first round of the sectional by Northeastern, who went 6-14 regular season and made it to the state title game.

Been called a lot of things but thats a 1st at being a troll. The Mac never courted Lehman. If they did Lehman wouldnt have been Independant when the SRC folded. The CCC didnt come calling either. Lehman and Miami East tried to get accepted into the CCC and were denied. Then the CBC accepted a package deal with Tipp, East, Ben Logan, and Graham and form 2 divisions (Mad River and Kenton Trail). All this Transpired after Milton said they were going to the SWBL. Milton got cold feet listening to rumors and maybe some people were talking to other leagues and such but the Milton announcement made it reality.

Not sure who you are and where you get your info, but again I was in Overla's office quite a bit and was in on every step.

I agree with Tom. One can only keep the Freak leashed for so long. Freak gets my vote.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm trying to put on my Obamaface. It was sent to me in the mail with a free cellphone, Obamabeeds, free Obama healthcare, Obamaflakes cereal and my Obama picture to replace my picture of Jesus in my family room. I'm thinking they got me and snake mixed up. They said they were also sending me directions to my new government supplied job, home and new Obamafamily. LOL.

Actually, It was MOSTLY Tipp's fault. Tipp was leaving the SRC reguardless of what MU did. Tipp was a coin slip from going back to the SWBL, But there was a lot of bad blood left over from them leaving.Tipp has shown some interest in giong back to the SWBL, and the SWBL did not show any interest back
Tipp has since outgrown both the CBC and the SWBL. The should jump into the GWOC ( best fit ) But their AD doesn't have the nads not to be the big fish in the little pond.
MU actually just jumped off of a ship that was on fire. The SWBL was their best fit and unfornunately, there is not a better place for them that is currently available. I would think that if a new conference started to form( think Brookville Covington Lehman,Tipp Bethel) They would definately be interested.

I love Tipp City as a yearly opponent if not for rivalry, but as a measuring stick. The point value is there more for Milton than it would be for Tipp. Either way I am excited to see the new team in action and will be cheering on the Bulldogs all season long!
Edit - The Tipp/Milton game this season should be another great one and more reason we need to keep that rivalry around!

Naaa. I have to disagree with you Balcony. I think MU moves on from that Tipp-MU rivalry that wasn't really a rivalry until Tipp closed the gap in the 90s. We, back in the 70s and early 80s, focused on Oakwood, Northmont and Versailles. Tipp was an afterthought.
^^^^ what is up with Tippy's numbers?

Who is looking to play at the next level? Milton seems to have a few, who are they and where do they want to go?
