....but they weren't bothered by it. Or in Ohio's case, put "we" in place of "they."

and add this:
On Dec. 16, Ohio State University filed a petition with the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office to cancel Ohio University's trademark of "Ohio." The trademark, which was granted by the federal trademark office in 1995, applies to what is called a "secondary use" -- a use limited to university athletic events, entertainment and apparel.
In an op-ed run by The Dayton Daily News and The (Toledo) Blade, Ohio University Vice President for University Relations Adrie Nab said: "CNN, ESPN, the wire services, USA Today and most other nation al media refer in sports stories to Ohio University as 'Ohio,' just as they call Indiana University 'Indiana,' just as they call the University of Michigan 'Michigan.' The University of Michigan has a trademark for 'Michigan.' Indiana holds a trademark for 'Indiana.' Why shouldn't Ohio University hold a trademark for 'Ohio'?"
So they complain when we use the name, but they'll fight the Bobcats over it?

OLPride - I am an Ohio State fan and the reason that I didn't comment is that who cares what Brady Hoke or John Beilein calls Ohio State? Now, I admit that I found it pretty funny when Beilein and basketball Wolverines lost to OU. The only thing that is questionnable is if it is taken as a sign of being disrespectful. If that is the case (an I am not saying that is the intent), then that is a little different. I know that UM fans had a pretty painful 9 years against Tressel (I am not being mean or disrespectful here) and last season brought out some serious enjoyment. Any Ohio State fan who experienced the 90's can relate to that (everything from Moeller saying that OSU was not Michigan's biggest rival, to Marcus Ray's mouth to Cooper's gift of finding ways to lose to UM).
I enjoy the Ohio State-Michigan game because of the intensity. I don't like it when it becomes nasty (Boston and Woodson fighting for example) and I am afraid that it could go down that road again in the next few years.

Michigan will lose the next 7 games against Ohio State. Hoke will be out of a job and he'll always remember the Buckeyes and his moronic idea to call them "Ohio".

Anyone around here that roots for a team other than Ohio grinds their fans. Even when I visit Columbus, I get "the stare" as I walk around in Wolfpack gear. They aren't even rivals, but they are way different than Ohio.

Indeed. Funny how they think Hoke is in our heads. That couldn't possibly be further from the truth.

'The stare' that you get is from people not being familiar with what you are wearing as NC State is irrelevant on the national sports scene.
Please do not confuse 'grinding' with caring.

^^It's a angry stare,,,,,,,,because I don't like Ohio. I like NC State. It has nothing to do with "national sports theme" because they are both Division 1 and play in big time conferences.

Since when is the ACC a 'big time' conference? They are only slightly above the Big Least in conference strength.

Last night on PBS' American Experience there was an hour-long show about Jesse Owens. It showed numerous clips of Owens on the OSU track team, particularly the legendary performance in the 1935 Big Ten track championship. In all the clips Owens was wearing a shirt that had "OHIO" on it and not "OHIO STATE." What was the significance of that, I have no idea.

To imply that any Ohio State fan would feel threatened by North Carolina State is a joke. No one from Ohio State cares about NC State - they are irrelevant in Big 10 country or any country for that matter.
Rattlesnake - it is obvious that you are just looking to start trouble. Get over your inferiority complex and start a thread on the ACC. Once you begin that thread, all you will hear is silence.

This is 100% true...but also Denard, Fitz Toussaint and the much improved defense that played backyard football under Rodriguez is causing paranoia in Ohio State country. Hoke is also destroying Meyer on the recruiting trail since he has landed verbal commits from at least thirteen or fourteen 4 star prospects including several of Ohio's top players. When the threads started last year most Ohio fans said Michigan would probably win 6-7 games along with quickly pointing out that Coach Hoke only had a career coaching record of 47-50 at Ball State and San Diego State respectively. Later when we started winning Ohio State fans said it was because our schedule was easy. Michigan needs to go out and shock the world and send a message to Alabama in Dallas while Meyer is preparing for powerhouse Miami(OH).

I always thought Meatchicken fans were delusional. This proves it. There is no paranoia in Buckeye country, let me assure you. What there is is confidence that Meyer can get the job done that he was hired to do and that the Buckeyes are capable of redeeming themselves after last year's close loss to a Wolverine team that, if you listened to enough talking heads, was supposed to wipe the field with them.
