I am not sure if the numbers are down or not. They may be a little but the same hammers at my sons weight for OAC are the same hammers he will see at OURWAY. Gonna be a fun two weeks.

At d1thru d3 seems to be the same kids @ oac n ourway for the most part which is a great sign for ourways growth. I have been very impressed with ourway these past 3 years. Keep up the good work

I too enjoy Ourway. Like how they break weights up, and the fact that you have one shot at qualifying.

I have to agree with you. I follow the D-5 group and they are missing several big names. D-1 and D-3 might be the same but D-5 sure is missing the hammers. I'm pretty sure the name below are missing this year, I could be wrong on some. just my 2 cents, no big deal

D1 - 124 wrestlers qualify. 4 of 11 brackets have 16. Ave 11.3 per bracket.
D2 - 216 wrestlers qualify. 11 of 14 brackets have 16. Ave 15.4 per bracket.
D3 - 248 wrestlers qualify. 12 of 17 brackets have 16. Ave 14.6 per bracket.
D4 - 269 wrestlers qualify. 16 of 17 brackets have 16. Ave 15.8 per bracket.
D5 - 273 wrestlers qualify. 13 of 19 brackets have 16. Ave 14.3 per bracket.

A total of 1130 wrestlers, 56/78 brackets are full (72%). Ave is 14.5 per bracket.

Seems pretty good to me. Most of the 'not full' brackets are at both ends of the weight classes, which is normal.

72% doesn't seem so good to me. And alot of these brackets consist of every single kid that signed up. Not sure why the interest level isn't higher.

True for some, but I noticed a region that had 19 wrestlers in on bracket alone! It's gotta be hit or miss.

As to an earlier post, curious why there isn't more interest overall. It would be great if biddy state tournaments were held prior to high school state. It can be a grueling schedule for those kids that play football and baseball
IMO some kids/parents aren't ready to put in the time, which is ok.

I know some may not agree but I think there are too many weight classes. Waters it down a little. Every 3-5 lbs would be fine- even in the lower divisions.

Here is a spreadhseet showing OURWAY numbers for the last 4 years broken down by region and weight class. Interesting notes:

-The CSE Region has steadily declined each season, however the total OURWAY numbers have grown every year.

-Divisons 1,2,4 all went down in particpants this season over last

-Divisions 3 & 5 each went up in participantsthis season over last D

-Div 5 went up 23% which helped push total OURWAY numbers up for the 3rd consecutive year
