Coach Tufts was the head coach at Garfield Heights previously. By the way, Pickerington Central has also apparenly chosen a new head coach with previous experience. Since it has not officially been made public, I will not say more other than the fact that a lot of huddlers are going to be surprised.

Wanna' bet?....lol...The announcement is up to the school, and I would not post something if I wasn't aware that all those who applied had not been officially notified. If it hasn't been announced by then, people might want to show up next Saturday afternoon at the Olentangy shootout when the Lady Tigers will be there with their new coach. Feas now owes me for publicity!!!!

A coach is not a reason to attend a shootout

That's certainly true. I was just saying that unless I've posted it by then, that's one way for someone to find out if they are curious enough. The teams themselves this weekend will be worth watching, with Solon (maybe the D1 team to beat in the NE), Gahanna-Lincoln (with all starters back from their district championship team), Olentangy, etc.

Solon is the real deal, we found that out in Barberton this summer. I am curious about some other teams though and maybe someone can help me out? Centennial, Olentangy, Liberty?

dvrfanatic....Centennial improved a lot last year in the Columbus City League North Division under new coach Darren Green, who had been an assistant to Reggie Lee at Brookhaven. They are not exceptional, but decent. That's probably close to where Olentangy Liberty is at this point, too (young but improving). Olentangy has most players back from last year's district finalists. They work hard, are fundamentally sound, and have good interior players. Pick Central (in addition to a new coach) has everyone back, but faces the difficult schedule within their own league with Reynoldsburg, Gahanna, Pickerington North, and Newark to play twice. They don't return a lot of height so will have to rely on defense and some good guard play to be competitive in any of those 8 games. I just rechecked the participating teams and a couple other things stood out...Hoban had a very good D2 team last year, but I'm unsure how many are back. I've been told by at least one coach in Toledo that Southview may be the best team in their area this year. Oak Hill always has an excellent small school team and have played well in this shootout in the past. Finally, the fun game to watch if they play each other may be North Canton Hoover vs Massillon Perry. The new Hoover coach ( who is also a former Hoover player) spent the last couple years as the coach at Perry!!!

Bigdawg... Can't find anything online (school websie, OHSAA openings, Toledo Blade, etc.) about Strtch. Sorry.
And on a happier note, first practice for girls basketball is 100 days from today (10/26). Can't wait!!

Pickerington Central coach has yet to be confirmed, but should be at board meeting Monday evening. They WILL NOT be at the Olentangy shootout this weekend because not enough of the girls are in town. More after Monday evening. Sorry.

Update on post above re Pick Central. There apparently was some additional paper work to finish, so board approval may not come until regular meeting the second Monday or Tuesday in August. If anyone else happens to find out (through players or whatever) the identity of the potential new coach, I would ask that for the sake of all, nothing be posted until it is all official. The person involved would appreciate this as well. Thanks.

Could the delaying of board approval forPC job have any negative effect on another local program? What I mean is that if the new coach will not be approved till August, can the school this coach is leaving start looking, if this coach does not resign from their current job until he/she is officially board approved? May be putting another program in a tough spot to find a quality coach.

This should not be an issue in this case(without giving too much info).

Instead of saying sorry, you might want to go back to your post from yesterday and delete it before it is seen by everyone. Thanks.
