That is unfortunate, She is a nice player and could have helped the team. My daughter played summer ball with her several years and Stephanie is a talented player.

Well, just heard that Otsego beat Archbold tonight 3-1 and that Asmus was outstanding. That should put the Knights on the radar.

Elmwood played Clay and BG in double-header Saturday. Won both games.

Wow I just read Eastwood beat Elmwood 8-7. Nice job and it said Eastwood had 4 error's and still won.

Yes, but according to "Hoiles Elmwood didn't lose, they beat themselves. " So that 3 run double Cass Rolf hit off the middle top of the center field fence didn't happen? Don't get me wrong it wasn't pretty, but Eastwood won and that's in the books.

BGHS 1, OTSEGO 0
OTSEGO 000 000 0—0 4 1
BGHS 100 000 X—1 3 0

Otsego's Freshman Pitcher (Lefty) is very talented. It is apparent that she has been working with a good Pitching Coach for several years.

Eastwood is in first and Elmwood is last. The rest of the league gets started this week. Genoa plays at Lake tomorrow, Genoa will be tied with Eastwood for a few days.

I'm guessing cometrules, as I stated in a related post, that Asmus didn't pitch the game.

I am guessing you are right, as the Sentinel article did NOT list the pitcher for Otsego.

The results of the game with Perrysburg and the probability that the Asmus girl did not pitch the game reiterates my earlier concern, posted on the NLL blog, that "When a team has a pitcher who has averaged 12-15 strike outs each game, the team's defense does not have to be very strong to win games.

I don't think this staff can take credit for the Asmus girls Success? Credit would need to go to her Pitching Coach and Parents for spending the time and money, over the past several years, developing her talent!

A Strong/Talented Pitcher goes a LONG way in winning, at the High School level.Real Coaching comes into play when a team does not have a Strong Pitcher."

Otsego's defense, when tested, appears to be suspect??

Yes..... The Asmus girl did not pitch. The word we heard was an injury kept her out. According to our scorekeeper, Otsego had two errors. I was there, and can say with a great deal of certainty that the 19 Perrysburg hits was a larger factor than any type of Defensive inexperience.

Hopefully, the Asmus girl will be pitching again soon and the injury isn't something that will sideline her for an extended time. The problem with a one pitcher staff is that on occasion things happen and all of a sudden you are left with a no pitcher staff. It seems to me that earlier in the season, Otsego had won a couple of games and Asmus was not listed as the pitcher, so perhaps they have more than just Asmus.

Asmus did not pitch. She had pulled a muscle Saturday. Could have maybe pitched but with league games starting this week wanted to save her. The way Perrysburg was hitting it might not have mattered. Otsego's defense had been fine. Wright has pitched two games and had been fine. She beat Maumee 4-2 on Saturday. Perrysburg's speed and aggressiveness on the bases caused Otsego to throw the ball around a little more than they should of. Perrysburg came ready to play and dominated the game.

Perrysburg smashed the ball from the 1st pitch on. Otsego's outfield got plenty of exercise. Perrysburg is very fast on the bases.

Looks like the NBC will be a wide open league. Right now Otsego and Woodmore the favorites. When was the last time Elmwood was 0-2 in the league?
Woodmore 1-0
Otsego 1-0
Fostoria 1-0
Eastwood 1-1
Lake 1-1
Genoa 1-1
Rossford 0-1
Elmwood 0-2
