Default The 11 Other Solyndras - 01-15-2012, 06:59 AM

The link is to a 5 min. video clip of a CBS story of the wasted taxpayer dollars doled out by the DOE. I cannot give BHO a pass on this. I consider him corrupt, handing out taxpayer money to his cronies and his pet project interests. With his lack of a background in business, is anyone shocked at the failure? They blame it on the Chinese. Does that make anyone feel better? What's shocking is the extent of government awareness of the apparent futility of the investments, yet they proceeded anyway!

He's trying as hard as he can. Really? For what? To extricate and redistribute the wealth of this country (in my humble, moderate opinion).

I think I'd have to consider that a "softening" of your position. An olive branch!

In the grand scheme of things, I think it would be greatly beneficial to the economy if we were to become the world leader in the technology. So I don't really question the value of the investment, but rather the total lack of oversight. Because the numbers that our leaders have to deal with are measured in billions and trillons, they treat checks in the mere millions like they were taking it out of petty cash. You and I should be so lucky!

If the government is going to invest in new technology (other than defense technology), I think it should offer a lucrative prize; a longer patent; some incentive that encourages substantial competition to develop or invent it. I don't accept that the government picks and chooses beneficiaries of taxpayer money based on political alliances-not to say that there is proof that occurred in these cases.

Doc, I've never hinted that I'm better than anyone else. In fact, perhaps it is my fear that the opposite might be true that makes me want to lash out all the time. I realize that all are entitled to their views, but have never been the kind that accepts criticism or ridicule constructively to say the least.
A few of your posts opened my eyes to the reality that many factors and life experiences go into what a person becomes and how they view things. More respect should be given to those holding different views.

Great post! I agree with your comment regarding the beneficiaries. You and I do in fact have the ability to tap those same resources and many do, just not to the size of the solar fiasco. Our avenue is through the SBA and it's a royal pain in the butt. Restaurants are considered such a risky business gamble, that banks don't touch them. They may handle the paperwork, but the SBA has to make the guarantee.

The process is complex and if you really want a loan, you really have to do your homework. What you really have to be is, damn ambitious!

As to the second thought in your post, I find you to be a worthy opponent for your nemesis and frankly, I respect you both in your ability to defend to defend your perspective. Sometimes I grin when you remind me of Imus and say to myself, "I can't believe you wrote that!" You both cross the line where I personally won't go. If pushed into a corner and I have to choose sides, I'm prone to stand with the underdog which how I almost always view my status. The guy who pushes me is at a distinct disadvantage out of the gate. I don't need a punching bag.

Perhaps I don't take things (especially myself) too seriously and I need an attitude adjustment. I don't know, I like my skin and have for a long time. At my age, change my be tough to detect. I try to find humor in just about everything. It's a survival technique. In any case, some of the cruel comments hurt me and I'd rather not participate.

But I realize some people just love to be combative and I don't want to get in the way if two guys (or gals) want to have at it. I'm okay with moving on if anyone feels I keep throwing water on the fire. I'll leave that call to you all. No hard feeling on my part one way or another! :)

DOE should be eliminated! If you understand why it was formed and how it has inflated out of control . It sure has done a great job in making us less dependent on foreign oil!
