Default Bowl news - 12-23-2011, 09:28 AM

May as well start a thread with the college bowl happenings.

I'll lead it off with a congrats to Boise State, especially their QB, Kellen Moore. 50 wins, 3 losses in his 4 years at QB for Boise. 2 of those losses were in overtime, this year a one point loss on a makable missed FG at the end of the game.
Before everyone falls all over themselves telling me they don't play anybody, and they don't play in a major conference, which is valid, they can only play the teams on their schedule. They have tried to schedule up as much as possible. But the problem is they are too good for many of the big boys to schedule non-conference.
Unfortunately in this day and age, we are so driven to be #1 and no one else matters. Well, going 50-3 the last 4 years is great. And Kellen Moore will go down as one of the biggest winners in college football history, and he has beaten enough legit teams to validate it.

You don't have to convince me about the type of team and program Boise has. I've got an idea....Let's call Oklahoma and get them to come up to Boise for a game next season? (and if that game has already been scheduled, my apologies to Oklahoma for not being afraid to take on the major powers on their home turf!) Perhaps this time the Sooners will do better than in recent years?

I'm not going to bemoan the fact of which bowl they got to play in, the bowl system is strictly for the bowls to make money by ticket sales and eyeballs on tv. As well known as Boise is now, they still don't bring the numbers that the big boys do. I just want to congratulate them for being one of the most dominant teams of our time, and maximizing their potential, and at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?

I root against them all the time and all they do is win. I thought ASU could at least give them a game.

Isn't it amazing, New Years Day and not one single Bowl Game. Jan. 1 was the one day that all the major Bowl Games were played.

I could use a Purdue victory for my confidence poll. I think they can win but it will be a tight one I think.

"dominant team of our time" is pretty exaggerated... "maximizing their potential" well put.

What I mean was that they dominated who they played, which is about all you can do. They really a victim of their own success, the big boys don't want anything to do with them.

Tip your cap to the Air Force, going for the win last night instead of the tie. They had the right play and just didn't execute.

Northern Illinois is another one of those poll picks I have that will really help me out. Northern is a lot tougher than the majority of football fans realize. I don't know for sure if they can win because I know nothing about Arkansas State but I'm sure that down in Arkansas they are saying the same thing about Northern.

Go Northern!!!

Not 100% true... several "big boys" have tried to schedule Boise and they have turned down the opportunity. I think there is mutual hesitation. But I agree they play well and dominant most inferior teams.
