If the westervilles dont have sports it will be absolutely devastating and there will be no winners. even the teams that might get some good players should not be looked at as winners. When you think of players who have dedicated themselves to a program and then lose a starting job their senior year to a westerville transfer. Or the schools who are already crowded taking in a sudden influx of new students. Or the coaches who dont look to benefit from this situation having to go against coaches that will do whatever they can to get some good westerville football players in their school. It will be an absolute mess and it is already very sad to hear of coaches looking to get players in their school. That is not high school football even if some people will try to justify it by saying it goes on every where.

yourmove: I don't frequently agree with things you post on here, but I think this post was spot on and I agree 100%. I'm really looking forward to next season. But if the R3/R7 races end up being shaped largely by whoever reaped the biggest Westerville bounty, it will really sour me on the season.

I'm glad my boy's a senior this year. I'd hate to think how bad it would be to come back for your last season and lose your spot to a transfer in.

Johnstown might have to play a few more players both ways next year unless some young guys step up, but they definitely have some talent coming back.

Offense returns:
QB - Return: Tyler Thompson (Sr.) will be pushed by Josh Kirkpatrick (Jr.) and Kaden Welch (So.)
RB - Return: Nick Sadinsky (Sr.) will be pushed by Alex Workman (Jr.) and Cody Farley (So.)
FB - Return Adam Carter (Sr.) and Harrison Johnson (Jr.)
WB - Corey Lamer (Sr.) or Loren Albright (Jr.) or a young player to step up (Sadinsky if needed)
WR - Return: Bailey Duncan (Sr.) (Thompson or Sadinsky if a young player steps up at QB/RB)
T - Justin Mooney (Sr.)
T- Will need some young players to step up
G - Return: Tim Sayer (Sr.)
G- Return: Dakota Crawford (Sr.) maybe move to T?
C - Garrett Holter (Sr.) or a young player to step up (I can think of one player that will be a senior if he comes out for football that did not play this year)
TE - Return: Corbin Grassman (Sr.) and Clayton Bullard (Jr.)

Some of these guys started full time defense and were primary backups on offense so lets look at the defense if guys play both ways:

DE: Return: Clayton Bullard (Jr.)
DE: Return: Tim Sayer (Sr.) or Corey Lamer (Sr.)
DT: Return: Dakota Crawford (Sr.)
DT: Garrett Holter (Sr.) or young player
OLB: Return: Daniel Almendinger (Sr.)
OLB: Nathanael Ashbrook (Jr.) or Zach Fleming (So.)
ILB: Return: Corbin Grassman (Sr.)
ILB: Return: Adam Carter (Sr.) Harrison Johnson (Jr.) and Cody Farley (So.)
FS: Return: Nick Sadinsky (Sr.) and Alex Workman (Jr.)
DB: Return: Tyler Thompson (Sr.)
DB: Return: Loren Albright (Jr.)

Now some players played a limited role this season due to the amount of seniors but for a DIV school to play all their players one way allows for a lot of younger player to develop. Obviously this team loses a lot, but the coaches at Johnstown do a great job of developing players during the season and in offseason workouts. They will also move young players around to wherever they need to help the team. Also all of the young players got an extra 4 weeks of practice time that should help. They will need to develop their O and D lines the most and they will need to find a replacement for Franklin and Smith, but Thompson at QB and a combination of Sadinsky, Workman, Johnson, Albright, Farley and/or Fleming along with Carter is a good group coming back. The Ross Franklin's and Marcus Hendren's don't come along every year, but Johnstown always has a great RB. As far as passing goes I think the offense took off this year because of how good Franklin and the O-line was, but teams had to choose to stop the option or the power no one really stopped both AND Smith could pass if needed and they hit some deep balls to keep teams honest, but they only really needed to pass one game all season and other teams would complain if Johnstown worked on the passing game at the end of games. Even Norwayne did not stop Johnstown except on a few turnover on downs that were costly when Norwayne could not be stopped. Thompson can pass and run the option/keeps but Welch by far has developed as a passer more than any QB Johnstown has seen so maybe you will see more of that in the future. It's not that Jtown doesn't want to pass, but you have to have an athlete who really wants to work on the passing game in the offseason, but most QBs Jtown has had usually is a 3 sport athlete.

As far as schedule goes it is pretty tough:
Granville - A lot back with Fraley and co.
Heath - very young this year always a tough game (Simpson)
Lakewood - Lose a lot of seniors
Centerburg - Tough MBC game last year
Loudonville - a lot of youth coming back could win league
Fredericktown - not sure where this program is headed
Utica - Tough Road ahead
Danville - program on rise
East Knox - always a tough game
Northridge - depends on how much they improve under new coach

Prediction: Slight chance at 10-0 if this season carries over...Best 9-1 Worst 6-4 (6 Tough games: Granville, Heath, Cburg, Loudonville, Cburg, Fredericktown, Danville) I would say 8-2 and making the playoffs most likely.

I also think that Mitch (SWISH) Cox will have a solid year espically on defense.

I would love to see some wildcat packages designed for this player.

Can Trotwood-Madison be first D-II school in nineteen years to repeat as state champion with Isreal Green expected back for his senior year?

Davidson will go further in the Playoffs than any of the OCC field. If an OCC team does make it to the title game they will CHOKE! I don't see Ignatius or Moeller letting up in the world of the Parochial. Don't forget St Ed's and St Xavier too. Div I is far too hard for a public to win....

Dbizzle: You been freeze dried or doing hard time? When was the last time Moeller made it out of R4 to be anywhere close to relevant in state title discussions? You need to change your handle to 'Uncle Rico', because you appear stuck in 1985. *News flash* Hiawatha Francisco graduated nearly 30 years ago.

Rocks: I partially agree. I think Davidson will drop one of those games. I think if Jennings can stay healthy, Davidson could possibly see a 9-1 type season (though 8-2 is a distinct possibility). I do agree with your general premise that Davidson will not win R3 next year.

One big question(I am sure most teams could be asked this)

Will all of the players who played last year be back for Newark Catholic.
The roster I have shows
12 Juniors
25 Soph
2 Freshmen(Who played on the varsity in 2011)

@57Chevy, seems like a fair enough MBC outlook for this season, but how can you say that East Knox is always a tough game? EK should not be a tough game for anyone in that conference besides Northridge and maybe Fredericktown and Utica.

Bishop Hartley has added Fort Wayne Bishop Luers to the schedule....3 time defending state champions in Indiana with a total of 10 state titles...Hartley schedule is quite demanding.....

@HawkKnight It will certainly prepare them for the State Tournament and hopefully State Title game come November. Hartley is loaded this year and they still could lose a game or two by the looks of this schedule.

As long as the senior leadership is good for Hartley, which I'm sure it will be, the hawks could end up putting together the best season in school history. Hopefully they will add their third football state title!

As for Johnstown, they may have trouble getting enough points for the playoffs even with eight wins.
