St. Marys is tied for 37th with Lakewood St. Edward.

St. Marys has a 20-12 playoff record, 15 appearances, 3 titles, 64 points.

Can St Mary's record be pro-rated, due to their play-off runs happened when there were four teams that made it into the playoffs?

Only if you did the same thing for everybody else. Some of the teams listed ahead of St. Marys made it a few times when only 1 team per region qualified. Actually St. Marys did also, they lost to Elyria Catholic and Brookfield in 1977 & 78 respectively so they received the 1-point for qualifying and that's all in those two years.

As an example, four of Moeller's titles came when only 1 team qualified and those Moeller teams could have certainly won more than two games each season which is all they played to win a title from 1972-79. Obviously it was much more difficult to qualify then of course but the formula is what is. It comes from the Ohio High School Football Coaches Assoc. I just plug the numbers in.

If I were to pro-rate it I would make it worth more for qualifying in those years when only 1 or two teams made it.

By my count of the top 25 looks like 13 are public and 12 are private, is that right? Do you know what the breakdown would be for the top 50 or even 100?

Seems kinda unbalanced when you factor in the ratio of schools in those 2 classifications...

Not really unbalanced when you also factor in the Tradition, Coaches and Alumni support with those teams in the top 25 or 50 because those are the teams that are in the playoffs consistently from year to year reguardless of Public or Private!

Yes sir. Using the OHSFCA formula 14 is the max in a season since OHSAA expanded to 8 teams per region in 1999. For the teams that qualified from 1972-79, 8 was the maximum. From 1980-84, 10 was the max. and from 1985-1998, 12 was the maximum.

An interesting data point to add to the list would be the year each school started playing football.

Shouldn't Bishop Hartley should be on there with an 18-8 playoff record, 10 playoff appearances and 2 state championships?

No sir, not in the top 50. Your numbers are correct but that makes Bishop Hartley 54th with 52 points.

Nice work as always. Now, where is the column for flags thrown in playoff games? Isn't there a point adjustment for that?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

And my team in Minster had 5 of the top 13 on our schedule this year. Good thing we beat two of them.

Alumni support was mentioned above...I am curious who, of the top 25, have a dedicated football foundation/booster/alumni/etc group or club. I know Mooney and Alter have football foundations versus something like what Valley View or Mogadore have, which is an athletic boosters club to support all sports at the school.
