Actually one of our seniors #24, broke one of the bones in his lower leg in the first qtr. Not much fun to spend your last game on crutches. Wear a boot 4-6 weeks and hope that all is well after that. Great game to watch. I think we all got a great show for our admission price.

Curiously, they are talking to Ellis-Moore about moving to fullback. Any thoughts? Seems not to be a natural position for his frame.

Thanks for any additional information you provide.
They both lost a few games. The Frosh to St Ed & McDowell...the JV team to St Ed & St Iggy.

Sorry to hear that. I didn't notice it happen? Best wishes to #24!

I noticed him with his crutches on the podium after the game. Sorry to hear that.

Remember that you heard it here first. Watch out next year for a sophomore running back, if he's healthy, named BENJI ROBERTS. This kid is going to be a good one.

It's Monday, so the barbershop is closed.

Sign on the door reads:

LOSERS: Thanks for the Christmas money.... that half point was a kick in the nuts, huh?

WINNERS: See you on Tuesday...

I remember seeing him being helped off the field and coming out for the second half on crutches. He was a nice player, wishing him a speedy recovery.

^^^^ Another meat grinder. Hopefully 5 home games comes out of it.

If week 1 holds true and IS at Browns Stadium, that should make for a great crowd.

Mooney factoid of the day:

The Cardinals won as many games at Fawcett Stadium in 2011 as Canton McKinley.

Hopefully the 2012 Mooney Cards will not be a repeat of the 2011 Ursuline Irish! And the way the schedule is shaping up and the Amount of points it is going to take to get out of Region 11! Well.......

Wait until Fly sees this. Boy is Don going to get an earful. If we win at the factory of sadness that would make my year.

Bottom Line! The powers To Be, need to be SMART when it comes to scheduling for 2012! The 2012 Mooney Cards will be the front runner to repeat! No doubt in my mind! But you gotta get to Week 11 if you expect to repeat!

...The Cards were UNDEFEATED in the Federal League! and according to my friend bluetwistedsteel, Uniontown Lake has had trouble scheduling out of conference so possibly them at YSU in wk 8...!

Leave week 8 open before the UHS game. If you look at Ursuline's schedule, as of now week 7 is open week 8 vs E. Tech and then week 9 Mooney. What that comes down to for UHS is three weeks of preparation for Mooney.

I doubt this is a coincidence.

That's what everyone was worried about THIS year.... and see what happened???

I'm sure everyone would prefer the RING to a 10-0 regular season and playoff exit....

I have no doubt that Mooney can get in the playoffs next year with that schedule.

The one thing all Mooney fans need to remember is...we are not picking up the phone and "begging" the St Ignatius', St Edwards or Cincy Moellers of the State to play us! Beggars can't be choosers! I am ecstatic that the 3 local D1 teams are playing us. I would love to see at least 2 other local (bigger) schools play us, but I doubt that ever happens. So as they say folks...it is what it is!

Nobody is going to feel sorry for us...and the more we win, the harder it will get to find teams even close to our school size, to play us. I'm more disappointed in the D2 & D3 Parochial Schools that would rather not play us, than anything else!

Unfortunately, Mooney is not afraid to play anyone, I have alot of Big Red friends and don't want to get into a scheduling debate but Mooney has and never will duck Big Red. The truth is they don't want to play us.

There are 3 ways to schedule your season.
1. PLay cupcakes and never have a chance of making the playoffs.
2. Play a schedule that gets you into the playoffs but doesn't prepare you.
3. Play a schedule that gets you in as well as prepares you for playoff competition.

Mooney elects to go with #3.

The Vindy has an article in todays paper.

Mooney's slate pays off
Cards' though schedule had them ready for playoffs

Coach Fecko stated: "Peoples's schedule for the regular season is the most underrated thing. The more quality people you can play, you're better off. You're cheating yourself if you're not."

Now with that being said, come on so far that schedule is down right insane!!!!

How come every year Coach Angle of Howland can schedule cupcakes and still make the playoffs? lol You can play lousy teams, go 10-0 and make the playoffs. Now if we look at his playoff record that tells it all.

converse, that's my point. Playing cupcakes can get you in the playoffs but not prepare you for the quality teams you'll play to win it all. Just, remember they were open week 10 and Mooney had to schedule Lake.
