Interesting that the Hartley rooster has the heights listed below for Brooke and Molly.
Brooke Betts OH/MB 5’11
Molly Shonk OH/S 5’8

But if you go to the Mintonette website here is what he has down for their heights
Brooke Betts Middle/Outside Hitter 6' 1"
Molly Shonk Outside Hitter/Setter 5' 7"

Height didn't matter on this day. Some people are really eating their words today. So happy to hear that the Hawks pulled it out, not bad for "an average team"

Congrats to Alter on a great season!

Hartley Hawks, 2011 STATE CHAMPS!!!

cardir- What is your point? The inch or two in height didnt matter Hawks got the job done. Great defense Hawks! Total team effort in my book and coaching was great. Way to go Coach Max with his assistences and Congrads to the Lady Hawks on winning State and Great season.

yes they are. except Molly might be more like 5"6.5 but that doesn't matter really 5"8 sounds better to college coaches.

Molly plays like she is 6 foot anyway so it doesn't matter.

neither of them are 5'8 or 6'1 haha but it doesn't matter, they play bigger than that with a lot of heart, determination, and athletic ability....i agree with chickenheart, i got the opportunity to coach this kid last club season and besides her gifted athletic ability, this girl competes with the best of them.

I was amazed that Hartley was able to get enough touches on Courtney and #7 and keep Courtney in the back row for long enough stretches to go on big run. Defense, Shonk all over the place, Betts hitting with some power and tough, tough defense. Congratulations, Hawks, on exceeding your coach's expectations.

I was not "making a point". I thought that Molly was taller than 5' 6" and thought Brooke was shorter than 6' 1" so checked out the 2 sites that I knew had info on them and was surprised to see the different heights posted on the two sites that Max has. No problem here with either postings and I would round up if a player's height was 5' 6 1/2" etc if it were my players. Thought it was interesting is all. Which is what I said. End of story. I have thought that Molly was overlooked for a while now so it's nice to read that she is getting some recognition. Congrats to the Hawks!

After all the ************** and controversy about Hartley taking the easy road, it's over. "easy road", "average team", eat your words.

The best, and most exciting match of the entire tournament goes to Alter and Hartley.

Well deserved.

I LOVE VEEBS!!

Congratulations to Hartley on a well deserved win. Yes, Shonk and Betts were huge, but the defense was the star in my opinion. Without a doubt the best DII defensive team Alter faced all season. The defense prevented the Knights from getting into any offensive rhythm. And when Courtney or Seiler (#7) started to get kills, Hartley made the necessary adjustments to disrupt them.

Yes, and in crediting Hartley's defense, we should probably mention Lauren Hurley. She had a fantastic tournament, and is probably one of those unsung heroes on this team.

All of Hartley stepped up for the win, it was an awsome game to witness. The girls from Alter they can hit! But adjustments were made. I hope the girls on both teams realize that they are blessed with playing on great coached teams and players. My daughter plays for a high school and plays club under Max as here coach and would love to play on competive teams like the ones we saw this Saturday. What a dream that would be for her!

Couldn't agree more, Grapes. What was most impressive about the match was how, after going into a 'funk' during midway through the 2nd set they battled back and had Alter scrambling to win that set. Then, after giving up a lead late in the 4th they stormed back with a 10-1 run to close it out. Tremendous teamwork and unbelievable tenacity. CONGRATULATIONS HAWKS! We are all so proud of your accomplishment and the hard work you put in to make it happen.

Hartley showed that they wanted it more with there no quit defense. Alters Left Side hitting was terrible...to me that was the difference in the match.

Congratulations to Hartley!

I think Kacee Salyers (plays middle for AC) is playing for COVBC (previously played at SOVC) on the same team with the two Hughes girls from BC and Cheyene Rose from Harvest Prep.
Haley Pinkstock (libero) and Mariah Compton (setter) play at SOVC 17s. The freshman outside hitter I believe is playing 15 travel at COVBC also. Not sure about some of the others. Alana Smith should be playing for AC. She was a junior this year. She'll play on a 17 national team at Elite Volleyball.
