Best stadium= Jackson High School
Plus you have to walk single file line past the power pole to get between the fences as you head to the vistor side

As a resident and alumnus, thank you for the kind remarks, especially the perspective of a player. All credit goes to the athletic department and boosters for the improvements made over the last 6 years

Our next upgrade in the very near future will be a new concession stand on the visitor's side that will also have a permanent restroom facilty for visitors.

Completely agree. They literally plant crab grass on their field, and the parking is probably the worst in Central Ohio.

Maybe the city should inspect the place. Be kinda funny if their stands were condemned. Don't laugh..... It happened at Lancaster's Fulton Field some years back. The county condemned their visitor stands and that forced the school to replace them. They're much nicer now.... still too small, but nice.

Upper Arlington: Home of the Golden Bears and 124 State Titles.

Marion-Franklin's field (natural) might be the best truf in central ohio and atmosphere is outstanding, the best in the city. The stadium itself can't compete with the burbs.

I thought Marysville's grass still looked pretty good based on this years conditions.

Another Watterson guy here, and the Hagley field comments are right on. Nice historic feel an pretty good for actually viewing the game, but terrible facilities and parking in the 'hood' is a bit unsettling. A few of us refer to it as "Shawshank".

I gotta give props to DeSales for their facility. I think it is the best for a non D1 school in the area.

Best overall is UA, hands down, in my opinion. Love going to playoff games there, and they grill a nice burger.

Worst playing surface for a top-notch team is Davidson, hands down. You almost have to try to have a field that bad.

Wu: Good call on Marion Franklin. I liked the environment down there. Pleasant evening.

Wolves: Agree 100% on the live grills at UA. There is something about the aroma of fresh grilling that says "ball game". Beats the heck out of microwaved or boiled meat you get at a lot of other places. I give Westerville North a shout-out in that regard as well. They had the animal flesh searing away on my last visit over there, as well. Yummy.

Bloom Carroll is one of the top fields in the mid state league now with field turf. Parking is not good with the construction going on. They put in new play clock but the scoreboard is still old. Concessions stands on both sides.

Aw, shucks....

Don't forget the indoor practice facility, code named "The Barn"

The Boosters and the AD know how to build a house!

Some are obviously "nicer" than others, but it seems that every stadium has it's own charm and tradition. Even the sloppy one's most always have character. I always look forward to visiting a new opponent and checking out their digs football Friday nights.

The setting has as much to do with it than the stadium itself, and I'm always partial to rural settings and the drive them to...Ain't that America?

Wouldn't exactly call Arcadia the "hood". Try going to a game at East, West, or (previously, they are remodeling) Linden. That is the hood. Parking is nonexistant. Linden is probably about the worst. I remember when we used to play there we would take all our old balls to play with, because when you kicked extra points they would go over the fence, into the street and no one was brave enough to go get them. We lost like 6 balls one game there.

Best field I would have to give to Beechcroft, but that's sorta biased. Our stands however need to be replaced. They already condemned the track back in like 2006.

I mean really administration the football program wins 2 state titles in less than 10 years, and the only improvement we (and I say we as a Watterson community)can make is a new score board!!!! Really are you serious!!! Thats lame at best. And any excuse they (and I mean the powers to be at Watterson, i.e. AD's, princapal and any other finacial budgetary administrative people) give about lack of funds is totaly on them. And I mean that by a lack of contacting alum for support (cash donations) or their own misguided use of the money, or worst the administration just doesn't care! And I do think the administration does care. So lets get it done Watterson powers to be, the community is behind you, all you have to do is ask!

i would think the problem is watterson doesn't own the stadium columbus public schools does. why put any money into something where you could be kicked out at any time. It comes up every year if watty is going to lose the field.

thanks ready Knights Fan I like it their but would like to see Newark and Newark catholic raise money for field turf the field by week 9 can be tore up sometimes. white field home side was put in in 1938 and lights added in 1944
the ones we used to have when we played ready that were in front of the stands. in 2001 or 2002 coke got new lights for the field.
i never have a problem with parking if you get their early. parking behind the visitor stands and at the ymca on church has two paved lots.

it hosted a lot of playoff games until the second rounds were put on field turf.
zanesville's newly renovated stadium gets most of the games now.
licking valley and johnstown have field turf too.

LV and Johnstown have nice fields / atmosphere. Is there still a plan for Newark catholic to renovate the stadium behind the school for a new home field?? As well as some other facility upgrades?

Watterson has the best atmosphere of any stadium in Central OH but the facilities are AWFUL!!!!!!!! Another really nice stadium that I really like is, Grove City's. Very cool stadium and your so close to the field. If were talking about the best stadium in all of OH, then it's definitely Steubenville's and it's not even close. Amazing atmosphere and that place get's LOUD!

My point exactly te88..Watterson does have plans for a small stadium on the campus grounds..had plans posted for a while until they went about $2 million over budget on the mew gym and music room.. and wont add anything else till its paid for... about $1.5 miilion left on bill... cost of new stadium, track and babseball field with all being field turf, except for tack was budgeted at around $8 million....So I hear what you are saying putting roughly $14 million in new facilities for athletics, music and the drama departments is a lot.. and you are right to say so.... This is where I think the administration and athletic departments have been failling at fot the past 25+ years... When you do almost no renovating to the athletic fields, tracks, gyms and theaters ( for the past 25+ years expect a big bill to fix, repair or build new)you are not putting the students in the best postition to be the most successful that they can be.... Now I will say this, the campus is neat and clean and the classrooms and all the electronic gizmos that are needed to educate the young people today is at Watterson and all of the academic areas are in far better shape than any other private school in central Ohio... So we should make it a priority as a Watterson community that if we demand excellence in all things (faith, community involement, academics and athletics) that we should demand the best facilities for our students to be successful too.

I love Harding stadium too! On the visitors side you literally have to duck you head to get to the bench because the stands juts out over the bench.
GC has a slight Harding feel with the way the stands are close to the action.

Stay thirsty my friends!

By far one of the best grass field's I played on in HS. The only other one I would put up there with it would have been Westerville Central. Not sure if they have grass anymore though.

We played games in the City League and out of conference against teams like Licking Valley, St. Charles, Teays Valley, and recently Watterson. None of them came close.

Remember our field doesn't get much use. Only other sports that use it are varsity soccer (boys and girls) and a JV football game. No freshman football, no JV/Freshman soccer. Last week the field was still in great shape despite the rain.

Also most schools are going to turf now. The City League in a few years will probably be the only league that still plays on grass. I hate the turf, but for most schools its needed for all the use the fields get.
