Default Week #8: C.F. Northwest (5-2) @ Canfield (6-1) - 10-07-2011, 11:17 PM

Who wins this one? Northwest brings a balanced offense and a fast defense. Who has seen Canfield?

Canfield wins speak for themselves. Canfield qb can run just as well as the Louisville qb.Canfield is very well coached.

Haven't seen the Louisville QB. We don't play them anymore. We are independent this year and next, at least.

Running Qbs are hard to defend, no doubt. That being said, I think we can play with Canfield but it will take an all-out effort to win and no mistakes.

From a playoff side of things, I really would like to see Northwest win, it would get some great points for Poland. Is this game at Canfield?

Yes bulldog, it is in Canfield. Northwest can beat them provided they play perfect. It would also move us up in the region.

Not so sure its worth it from a Poland perspective. Lots of points for Northwest if they win, most likely moving them back ahead of the Dogs. I think having teams that are close behind Poland in Region 11 lose is in Poland's best interest.

Absolutely correct. Poland does not want NW to win this game IMO. Especially since it looks like Poland probably has to beat Canfield to qualify. Granted, if NW loses Poland will lose 5.5 L2 points but they can regain 5.0 of those points if they beat Canfield in week 10, which I think they have to anyway. NW losing, especially to a team that Poland has yet to play, is much more beneficial to Poland than if NW wins this game. A NW loss here probably eliminates them. At the very least it will keep them behind Poland, assuming Poland beats East of course. If NW beats Canfield in all likelihood they will pass Poland. If I was a Poland fan I would be rooting for Canfield to win this game.

Canfield is pretty balanced from what I gather, but they ran for over 500 yards against Dover. So be prepared lol.

The Canfield quarterback is very good. But, don't overlook their short little runningback. He is quick and moves well. He broke three huge runs against Dover. You may also want to remind Coach Whiting Dover passed for over 500yards against Canfield. They also have one very fast end on defense that hit the Dover quarterback all night. They blitzed with that end all night.

Go Dover!

That may be true but Northwest DOES have quite a core of receivers. The QB has hit at least 8-10 different receivers over the course of the season so he spreads the ball around. No one has stopped the offense yet this season. They had a low of 21 points Friday but ended the game kneeling on the opponents 5 yard-line and had 3 TDs called back.

Some might say that Poland is the only team we have played this year in which case I would say we scored 41 points.

We have 3-4 receivers who are capable of 100 yard games. When you say Canfield gave up 500 yards to Dover, my saliva glands start going full bore! That's not to say that Canfield isn't capable of shutting us down because they ARE the best team we have played this season.

Northwest definately has a sense of urgency on their side, though. If they don't win, they don't make the playoffs. Canfield is sitting at the top of their region. They have probably already made it.

Canfield is going to be very hard to beat! And nobody has probably made it so do not assume Canfield is taking this game lightly. They have Poland Week 10. If they lose both these games they will be out.

I don't see us being held to 14 points, especially on turf. 29-28 Northwest.

Found a couple of interesting points. Canfield's 6 point victory over East, the same team that was a 34-28 victor over Barberton the week before and Canfield being ahead of South 28-6 at half a week before Northwest was ahead 49-0 at the half. Just a couple of items that point to Canfield not being an overwhelming favorite in this one.
