Default Cross County Conference 2011 - 07-18-2011, 02:23 PM

Thoughts?

My guess:

1. Covington (Still Loaded, Winston at QB, fast backs, solid line)
2. Ansonia (Cupboard not bare, Holcomb at RB, most of line back)
3. Miami East (always pretty good)
4. Bradford (Barbee, pretty darn good)
5. North (young last year)
6. Bethel (Lost QB and Rb, should still be OK)
7. Arcanum
8. MV
9. South
10. National Trail

I think Covington makes playoffs in Div 5 and Ansonia makes it it in Div 6, and Bradford will be close.

I think I would bump Bradford up.

Although, as always, best of luck to the Ansonia Tigers.

I think Bradford shocks the world this year. The 'Roaders are ready for prime time.

Defense is where there are question marks. Watch the Cassell (?) boy at nose guard (little crazy from what I hear). May see a few personal foul flags thrown at him this season....yep, one of those types.

Offensively I think they can put up some serious points. Its not just Barbee (although you'll see alot of him this year). The Canan boy is very good/fast and they have a transfer from Sidney at fb that I've heard is a helluva load to stop. the QB Wysong (soph) should be much improved with a few offseason QB camps under his belt. Got some decent height at wr in the Sell boy.

Turnovers & Injuries (the normal stuff with 24 kids) are going to be a BIG key to a successfull season at Bradford.

Sounds like Enis is improving things in Bradford. Love to hear it. Good luck!

Wouldn't the transfer from Sidney have to sit out a year or did he come last year? I know at Ansonia our QB transferred from Greenville and had to sit out last year in every sport.

Not if his family actually moved to the Bradford school district.....if he open enrolled then yes he would have to sit out unless given permission from the OHSAA.

I've posted my prediction on other forums and threads but this is my general idea:

1. Covington
2. Miami East
3. Bethel
4. Ansonia
5. TCN
6. Bradford
7. Arcanum
8. Mississinawa Valley
9. TVS
10. National Trail

TCN, Bethel, and Bradford are all potential surprising teams. I think Bradford has some nice talent and could finish higher but overall depth is a major factor. Bethel should be improved. TCN had some nice wins last season, they can compete.

Not a bad predictions list there ex.....I know I've said it before though and from what I've heard of how the scrimmages have gone I can't say as I would put Ansonia that high. I really think they are going to struggle this season even though the definitely have the right coach to keep them competitive.

Here's my new and revised prediciton:

1. Covington - not impossible to beat, but will be darned hard in the conference
2. Miami East - lost a lot of talent but have enough kids out to reload
3. TCN - I think this will be an up season for a team that always has size.
4. Bethel - have heard mixed things about them...new coach...maybe some kids that went to Tipp, but they will have talent.
5. TVS - having now heard that they've implemented the spread....could be very dangerous in the conference.
6. Ansonia - Simply lost to much talent to graduation without the ability or talent to re-load.
7. Bradford - they have the talent but are now down to 23 or 24 boys on the team....going to be a long season for them I'm afraid.
8. Arcanum
9. Mississinawa Valley - heard their one bright point and very talented QB from last season has left the area
10. National Trail

BBF, one of our agencies is in West Alexandria, I think everyone here would love to see TVS that high. It'll be interesting to see what happens but they'll have to be really improved to have that type of team.

Seems to be a bit of pot stirring in the small town about this comment

Wasn't meant as a negative towards the Roaders nose guard....more as a positive. To be effective at nose you need a bit of a "wild side", and a little fire under your *ss, the kid has it from what I hear.

When I said "one of those types"......sometimes thats NOT a bad thing.

So for you "reporters" out there in Roaderland.....does that explain it better?
