Interesting. Hard to say I can blame him, but I'm also not going to shed too many tears. OL recruiting can be notoriously hit or miss. Mike Adams was supposed to be one of the top guys in the country coming out of high school. Ditto Alex Boone. Both were serviceable, but not stellar, IMHO.
Then there is Connor Smith from Colerain. He was supposed to be so good that he was the reason Antonio Henton (remember him?) committed to OSU. I'm not sure Smith ever saw the field in 4 years.
P.S.
I should add, congrats, though. I'm pleased every time an Ohio kid does well. Hopefully the decision will work out for him.

Why is this such a shock to people? I look for more Ohio State recruits to go to other schools. If the punishment is equal to what other schools have had, with no bowl games, suspended players, coaches leaving, new coaches with unproven track records, it seems like a no brainer. If your a TRUE BUCKEYE recruit you would stay no matter what the circumstances are.

goldball: Agreed. I could see people making the comparison if they saw in street clothes or in a combine type atmosphere, but anyone who actually watched film should be ashamed for making such a comparison.
The only explanation I can see is that they saw a 6'8", 300 lb guy with a huge wingspan and good feet, and they said to themselves that what a Left Tackle would look like if God himself were to carve one from stone.

The worst thing about this current OSU situation is how it is speeding up Michigan's recovery. The potential loss of scholarships and bowl sanctions will take years to overcome for OSU. I don't look for Michigan to be very good this year. Their spring game performance was horrible. Recruiting is the life blood of college football. It has been a long time since Michigan has gotten players from Ohio that Ohio State actually wanted. That is obviously changing, and it is not good for the OSU faithful.

eddie,
Good points. Michigan has been in OSU's rearview mirror for the better part of a decade. It hasn't even been close. This will surely turn the tides a bit quicker than the OSU faithful will like. It may even swing it the other direction like the Tressel hire did.
This will be interesting, because if I was a first class recruit and the NCAA slaps OSU with no bowls or no shot a a title for two or three years, I would look elsewhere. To me, Ohio love or not, that has got to be part of the fun playing major college sports. Going to a bowl and climbing the rankings etc...
This will put the buckeyes back 5 years.

Not so fast my friend, signing day is in Feb.
If Ohio State has a solid year Kalis may reverse field again,he also verbaled to the Buckeyes he could easily decide to honor his original verbal.

Agree and this is why it's so silly for these kids to announce these "committments" before they can actually sign on the dotted line in February.
What's Kalis, who said he's always wanted to be a Buckeye, going to do if OSU gets no harsh sanctions, no bowl ban...or just a bowl ban for this season, which would not even affect him? What's he going to do in December if new Buckeye coach Urban Meyer comes to see him, and reminds him that he's coached two national champs and that he's going to get a couple more at OSU? Stick with his second choice?

I'm not shocked I'm disappointed, because these kids obviously don't know how strong of a rivalry this is due to how much OSU has dominated the past 10 years. The sad part is Michigan is recruiting these kids by telling them how horrible things are going to be for Ohio State and not by selling their school and program.

I highly doubt OSU will get away with no bowl bans/championship games. Those are just to big of false hope for buckeye faithful.

The Buckeye fans are getting more and more delusional. Wait until Dunn heads to Michigan.
