In July last year, 11% of voters hadn't heard of Nancy Pelosi? And 7% in January this year were unaware of this bizarre creature? Amazing.

On second thought, considering the disheartening drop-off in American voter turnout in November 2009 compared to the previous year, perhaps it's not so amazing after all .........

I'm not surprised. The other thread is about Bachman, not surprised there either. Like Zunardo said, if there is only about a 60-65% voter turn-out for the general election, people not knowing who candidates are doesn't surprise me. Another factor is people come out in droves and vote straight ticket no matter what. They do not educate themselves on the issues or who the candidates are or what they believe in.

Also, neither of these two are sweeping through 'wowing' Republican voters at this point and the straight ticket D's really don't care. But Pawlenty is still probably in the top 3. You could probably have the same poll for D candidates for 2016 and have similar results.

consider this: newt gingrich has 16% of likely voters who STILL don't know who he is... even after having falsely impeached a president and having been in the public eye for thirty years. the vast majority of people don't ever listen to the right-wing driven alternative media.

http://pollingreport.com/g.htm#Gingrich

as for the disheartening dropoff.. reword that as--predictable drop off. midterms are always lower turnout than presidential elections. ALWAYS. that is why the gop does so well in gubernatorial elections but have only had the lead vote getter in a presidential/national election once in the last TWENTY-TWO YEARS.

next year, with nearly full turn out and the full help of the unions thanks to the gop reminding them of why they should oppose the gop--well, you can guess how that math is going to work out.

haha.

thanks for the thoughtful post though. i appreciate your ability to not attack the messenger and you are on good terms with super troll.

take care,

super troll

i won't preach to you. rather, i direct you to the non-profit website that our rogue moderators BANNED last week because of the truth it provided here at the huddle. it is no longer banned. read that as an indicator of how well i am doing v. the rogue mods. AND I WOULD BE REMISS IN NOT THANKING JJ FOR STEPPING UP AND DOING THE RIGHT THING. I WAS SURPRISED AND IMPRESSED. I HAD HIM ALL WRONG.

pollingreport.com

craft a message with stats. i'll listen. it shouldn't e hard. they archived virtually every poll released in the last thirth years there. your case should be easy to make.

and, like i said, i am all ears.

thanks!
